Rating books like this is weird. Four stars doesn't mean "this is great literature and is going to stand the test of time" -- four stars on this book means "I enjoyed reading this, it was the kind of light, fun Austen-related reading I needed today when I am not feeling well."

As I try to catch up on reviews, I'll keep this short and sweet. Rather than spending hours reading the book, just watch the movie. Nothing happens in the book that the movie doesn't manage to capture. And also, be prepared for a lot of cheesiness.

Since I finally finished reading through all of Jane Austen's full novels, I decided to give this modern ode to Austen a try. The book did have some interesting parts and I enjoyed the ending, but that was about it. I would probably watch the movie if I see it on TV.

I read this because it was the May selection of the Sizzling Book Club at Smart Bitches, Trashy Books. I was leery of the premise: Jane, a thirty-something New Yorker, frustrated in love, goes to a Jane Austen themed vacation park in Kent to try to get her Mr. Darcy obsession out of her system, the ...

There are a lot of things about this book that I think. I mean, it's about rich women trading tons of money for three weeks in Regency England. And overall it was a cute light read, I guess. Nothing amazing, but I did get caught up in it a bit. I probably wouldn't have read it except for SB-TB Bookc...

“If you were a woman, all I'd have to say is 'Colin Firth in a wet shirt' and you'd say 'Ah.”I think most women have a part of them, even if it's small, that sighs just a little when they hear Mr. Darcy. The Pride and Prejudice TV movie is the reason that to this day I will always love Colin Firth, ...

I've read it in one sitting and really recommend it for any romantic person. I mean, you might really enjoy it if you do not expect some sort of high lit. I didn't find any faults in the narrative, the writing style was light, easy to read, and quite funny and clean, which were two main factors for ...

Quick-read this before seeing the film (preferred the book). One of those books where the voice carries the show; plot has big holes and slow-going moments, and the characters didn't seem to grow or change (they got less confused). But a lot of great little moments and fine details (don't use the kn...
