Apocalypse plus positive Trudi review (http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/204585288) equals irresistible read. She was right, it was high on the addiction scale; once I sat down to devote attention to it, I read until I ran out of pages. The short form: a pair of fraternal twins, their younger sist...
Blood Red Road is a book I was seeing a lot lately in various sites and best seller lists. Most readers seemed awed with it but also spoke of its strange writing style, so I picked it up not knowing what to expect but also expecting to like it. The beginning unfortunately is too slow. The writing st...
Full review here on TotalTeenFictionI first heard of this book a while ago when it was being tipped as the next big thing after The Hunger Games. This book follows Saba who sets out to rescue her twin brother Lugh who has been captured.Starting this book, the first thing you notice is the style it's...
I have seen very mixed reviews of the writing style of Blood Red Road and I can understand why some people found it hard to read but I have to say that was one of my favourite things about the book. I'll admit it took a couple of pages to get into the rhythm of things - the story is told by Saba and...
Gah! I finished the first disc and went to put in the second only to find it's missing. :( I turned it back in and will now listen to something else while I wait for another copy of this one to come to me.I was finally able to finish this book. It didn't do for me as it has done for so many others.I...
I just found out that Moira Young was born in New Westminster which is the city I lived in for the first ten years after I moved to Canada so yes, immediate bias. That said, Blood Red Road really was all sorts of awesome. I was initially hesitant to read it because of I had read that it was written ...
A good adventure story and I'm one of those people that enjoy stories written with an accent (word play). As with all these dystopian novels I've read this year I just wish they would give more back-story on the civilization. I can't say I liked it better then The Hunger Games but it was still good ...
I had trouble liking the heroine in this book, and the southern style of writing was slightly off-putting, however, once I got used to both, I started to get into the story. It really gets going about 100 pages in and then it's action all the way to the end. It has been compared to The Hunger Games,...
DNFI could not suffer through the dialect the book is written in in order to get to the content of the story. I'm not entirely sure what purpose the dialect served. In The Color Purple it made sense given the context but in this novel it seemed superfluous to me.
Wow, I dont really have a review to write. I loved it, I loved the writing and the female protagonist, Saba. She's pretty bad ass. I actually love all of the characters, but Jack is my favorite! I can't wait for the Rebel Hearts to be published!
