Finally this is a good book if it was told from Zeke's perspective. I kept turning away to something else because some parts just drag. The action in this book is interesting when its happening. Some of the dialogue and things going on we could of did without.I enjoyed much of the book and enough to...
I want to start by saying that I adore Cherie Priest as an individual, and I follow her blog faithfully. That said, I'm discovering I'm not a fan of her fiction writing style. She has tendency to both show AND tell, which slows things down considerably. For a book with both Steampunky goodness and z...
Hated this booooook O_O I was praying for it to be over the entire time while listening to it on audio. The main female narrator was just so grating to my ears. Wil Wheaton's narration was the best part definitely. I couldn't stand the writing style and the words and grammar. It was just all i...
There were some rough patches, writing-wise, with this book, but it was more than made up for by quirky, interesting characters and an engaging and entertaining plot that just kept driving forward. Definitely a worthwhile read for the adventure - and a decent zombie tale as well.

I felt like there were too many characters and not enough depth to the story, and that kept it from being really great. It took a long time and a lot of effort to get into the story and I'll admit that I didn't like the characters very much. Briar and Zeke are both one dimensional and dumb as rock...
Note: This is a review of the audiobook, my notes on the narrators are at the end.Boneshaker is one of the more creative novels I've read recently - tying together zombies, dirigibles, mad scientists, steampunk weaponry and an overall western feel takes skill to do right, and Priest definitely deliv...
A really enjoyable steampunk adventure story set in an alternative history It's intelligently written and has plenty of action and plenty of strong women. A rites of passage/coming of age book which focusses on the mother/son relationship (at least that's how I read it). It took me ages to decid...
I found this an enjoyable steampunk/zombie romp. The action was a little slow in the beginning, but the second half of the book really picked up the pace, imo. Having visited Seattle a few times myself, I found the descriptions of the 'modified' city fun to read; parts reminded me quite a bit of the...
