I read this one for the first time as a teenager. It totally bowled me over, and held my fascination. It was such an evocative and lovely Victorian tale, and I properly read in my bed with the wind howling outside. Ah. The memories! I found the movies and fell in love with the Hammer Horror and th...

Read kindle/Audible versions through whispersync/immersion reading I was surprised how much of this book I remembered from reading it many decades ago. It is still a good read. The Audible cast version is fabulous and I especially love the performances by Tim Curry and Allan Cummings

The letter and journal format was distracting sometimes but this had quite a few great moments in horror writing. "Where the devil and his children still walk with earthly feet."That's some good stuff right there. The prose was beautiful but the story seemed choppy.

Well, all the vampire lore is there. The garlic, coffins, crucifixes, bats. The story itself was kind of lacking. I recognize the significance of Dracula regarding the horror genre and vampire fiction, but it really wasn't as good as I was expecting. This is, of course, heavily influenced by my aver...
