I really liked this book a lot. It won't make any greatest books of all time lists, I seriously doubt it will even make a "Best Books of 2010" list, but it's light and fluffy, easy reading. I don't read to be challenged, I read to relax and this book definitely fits the bill for me.

I went for this one, knowing that this is a novella, because of the beautiful cover -- I just fall in love with it. The purple-ish hue and the glittering Christmas lights. Maybe 3.5? I'm not sure, for the longest time I was thinking solid four, possibly more. For me this could have easily been a five star book, but it needed more story to it. There was absolutely no showing the adjustment period of a) Mark and Sam now taking care of a six-year-old girl, b) that six-ye...

What follows is the same review I did of the hardcopy.Magical Realism or Not?Yes, I do think Kleypas 'blew a kiss toward' magical realism in Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor in the first toy store scen...

20-something owner of new toy shop in the San Juan islands is very attracted to brooding uncle of 6yo girl who has an affinity for her. Two things stop her from following her heart: he has a girlfriend & she's fearful of commitment due to losing her husband to cancer 2 yrs before. As fate would have...
