Danny’s life seems perfect: his home is a gypsy caravan, he’s the youngest car mechanic around, and his best friend is his dad, who never runs out of wonderful stories to tell. And when Danny discovers his father’s secret, he’s off on the adventure of a lifetime. Here’s Roald Dahl’s famous story about a 9-year-old boy, his dad, and a daring and hilarious pheasant-snatching expedition. Just as important, it’s the story of the love between a boy and his father who, in Danny’s own words, is “the most marvelous and exciting father a boy ever had.”

german and english review Inhalt: Dannys Vater ist Automechaniker und ... Wilddieb! Als Danny das erfährt, ist er zunächst entsetzt - um später seinen Vater noch zu übertreffen und selbst Weltmeister im Wildern zu werden. Natürlich ist das illegal - aber in guter Familientradition schlagen die bei...
One of Roald Dahl's less weird books, similar to Esio Trot. Parts are funny, parts are ridiculous, and I will never love it as much as the ones I read as a child (which are of course much more funny and more ridiculous).
Since I did not find this book as humorous as I did with his other books, I found Danny's dad an irresponsible. How can he teach his kid to poach, to commit a crime. Unfortunately, this book, in spite of being one of his popular children books, is not as funny and his characters are not as memorable...
Rapscallions of the worst kind!BWahahahahahahaha!
Just the kind of book only Roald Dahl could write. Really really funny!
