I've finished and I freakin loved it. Rachel Morgan might just give Sookie Stackhouse some competition for my favourite heroine. Can't wait to read the next book.

Filled with my favorite kind of world building - in drips and drabs, with little forays into the more interesting stuff. (Tomatoes are eeeeevil!) I wasn't exactly sold in the beginning but by the halfway point I was totally on board. There's still so much Harrison can do with this world and I can...

As I started reading this I kept getting a feeling of déjà vu. It became a game of "Guess what's going to happen next!" Realized I had read this years ago. This one took me forever to finish. I don't know what it was. Maybe the world building, I just wasn't that into the particular world that was on page. The characters were decent enough. I'd put the book down and not have the desire to pick it up again.

It took me a while to warm up to Rachel Morgan, but once I did, I really enjoyed this book. It's a really good start to (another) new series. I can't wait to find out what Rachel Morgan gets into next!

Getting through this book was a real slog. It starts out with Rachel Morgan, a witch runner for the Interlander Security (I.S.), being portrayed as a real formidable character only to then be relegated over the next 200 pages as being butt-kicked as she struggles to survive a life contract put out o...
