Received a copy of Servants of the Storm by Delilah S. Dawson through the First Reads Giveaway program in exchange for an honest review "The sound cuts off, and Carly stares at the dead phone like she wants to crush it in her fist. Thunder shakes the house again, and a flash of lightning illuminates...

This review also posted at A Bookish Compulsion's Main SiteI always enjoy Ms. Dawson’s Blud novellas and The Damsel and the Daggerman was no exception. Returning to Sang and the wonderful caravan of Criminy Stain, this short vignette features two new characters, Marco the “Deadly Daggerman” and Jaci...

I am not an avid reader of this general type of genre (we'll call it steampunk, but this book crosses into many) so anything I have to say or think about it comes from a very fresh and outside view. If I was asked to describe this story in as few words as possible, I would have to go with Alice i...

I kind of feel bad for The Mysterious Madam Morpho. Sometimes, when you read stories in reverse, the earlier works don't always come out as strong as the later ones. I liked Morpho, but mainly it was because I got to see a bludbadger and Criminy again (albeit briefly). I didn't get the same exact cr...

Steampunk, Vampires and an Alice in Wonderland Theme. All the reasons why this shouldn't have worked for me.Thi...

It pulled me in more as it went along. Sang was a fabulous world. So refreshingly original. I loved the carnival aspect and if you're going to have killer bloodsucking bunnies, then I'm totally in! But the romance itself left me a bit cold. First off, bleh to the two guys instantly in love with her....

Okay, this is set in the quirky Blud world, that the author created in Wicked as They come. But unlike that one, this is basically a romance. A paranormal romance with some steampunk traits. We have the circus, the carnivalleros (sp), Criminy and Tish, but in this one, the short length of the novell...

“Time to beat back the bunny hordes," he said gallantly, knowing that any blood-hungry animals in the area would be waiting outside for me. He threw open the door, shouting, "Bunnies, prepare to meet your doom!” How could someone not like a book like this? It recognizes the evil of bunnies with th...
