I would recommend The Borgia Bride to: fans of Philippa Gregory. This book reminded me of her work in many way...
After finishing this book, I spent another hour googling everything to see if it was true or not. I liked the book- the story that is, but the writing wasn't the best. The way the book was written, it felt like journal entries rather than a good flowing story.Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the story...
as an opponent of half stars, I'd like to say I'd prefer to give this book 3 out of 4 stars ;-)I actually really enjoyed this book, and learned lots as it was a subject on which I was totally ignorant. Found the ending a bit flat tho. Great characters.
Much to my surprise, I really enjoyed this book! I like historical novels but often find the main characters too modern in their attitudes and sensibilities or the historical fact-futzing too annoying. Perhaps because I'm rather unfamiliar with this period of Italian history, any historical mistakes...
