I didn't like this one as much as some of Lanyon's other books. I felt like there wasn't enough exploration into the thoughts of the killer and a lot was left unexplained or unexplored.I'm still not entirely certain what the victim type is. I'm not sure if I just missed it or what, but there that is...

Elliot and Tucker did not work for me. Emotionally stunted characters that I really had no interest in, their futures or well being. The killer was easily picked way before the ending. I was trying to find the sensual writer of Mexican Heat and I did not find it. Not for me.

In terms of mystery and suspense, Josh Lanyon never disappoints. This easily deserves 4.5 star rating.I liked Elliot's personality, the way he acted and looked at things. He had a weird sense of humor (as he himself admitted), an observant eye and enough strength of character to try and analyze his ...

Another blinding mystery story from Josh, I can honestly say I only realised who the bad guy was at about the same time as our hero. Add to that the tantalising relationship between the two flawed but likeable leads. You have pretty much my perfect read. Loved it.

Engrossing, pulled me in, but felt like it didn't answer quite enough questions by the end - like, what was the origin of the bad guy's antipathy for Elliot? Why was Tucker angry at Elliot, if he recognized he'd screwed up?Also, office hours 5 days/week?! Is that typical at private colleges?

4,5, rounded up for good measure. A masterful, multilayered mystery, two likeable heroes and this author's true-to-life, witty dialogue. Small niggles: at times too lenghthy descriptions of minor locales while more important places were only sketched and hard to picture. And I didn't get what exactl...

Pretty good. The ending was really tense and liked the progression of Tucker and Elliot's relationship.

This was a fun story. Josh Lanyon took his time to flush out some well rounded characters. Elliot has a lot on his mind, a reconstructed knee, a new career, a lost love, and a missing student. The mystery is well written and the secondary characters are interesting. Tucker the lost love is not so bi...
