A parent's version of "the dog ate my homework", when the parent is more imaginative than his skeptical children. Loved it. Audiobook, borrowed from my public library via Overdrive. As usual, Gaiman reads his own work with more talent than should be allowed.
Oh, Mr. Gaiman. I don't think it really matters what you write, I will immediately love it. I read this in about 30 minutes, and yet I felt like I read a whole novel. It definitely feels as if you're going on a wild and imaginative journey, like the best children's books do. The drawings are fun and...

The Basics Two children are awaiting their father’s return from the store so they can eat breakfast, because they can’t eat their cereal without milk. He returns with the milk a bit late, but the story he has to tell more than makes up for it. My Thoughts This book is adorable. It’s puppies an...
Simply delightful! Although I have admired Gaiman for many years, this was my first time reading any of his books - and it did not disappoint. It is perhaps the wittiest and most creative story I've read in a while.

It really all comes down to a dad telling his children (very skeptical children) an outrageous story all the while trying to bring home the milk for their break...
Fabulous! At eleven and fourteen, the girls are rarely interested in read-alouds anymore, but Gaiman is irresistible. Such fun. I needed this. Library copy.
I'm currently reading this aloud with Natasha, who provides the daughter's voice, when needed. I love these times when we share a book, and I'm enough of a ham to really enjoy putting on a performance. So far, we're agreed that this father seems to be like Coraline's father, with the newspaper. ...
Honest disclaimer? Skottie Young's art is the only reason I bought this. He's the only reason I'm giving this book stars. This is a short quick read that doesn't quite seem to know its target market. Certainly, it's packaged like a children's book, with Skottie Young's wonderful illustrations and man...
