Same here! My copy has both, and I decided to just read the original, non-commentary version. I'm amazed by how easy the work itself was to read and I suspect that the added commentary would only confuse me, haha. Yeah, mine gets a bit spoilery at parts, too - I generally try to mark anything major with spoiler alerts in all of my reviews, but it's possible that I missed something. I wouldn't want to risk ruining anything for you!

I actually am really enjoying this book so far. Yes, Tess's family is horrible, but thus far, I've been able to laugh at how ridiculous they are. They're awful people, but I think that testifies to how well Hardy wrote them - they're meant to be hated, and I love hating them.
