I started this book in May 2011, but I could not finish it. Even though I am interested in finishing the book, at the time the story didn't grip me enough to keep me reading and eventually I just had to return it to the library.Hopefully, I will find the motivation to finish this book in the future.

When Elspeth Noblin dies she leaves her London apartment to her American twin nieces, Julia and Valentina Poole. It all comes as a bit of a shock to the two girls. Julia and Valentina didn't know they had an aunt in London, and are amazed by the condition in the will stating that their mother, Elspe...

It took a while for me to get a feel for this book but once I'd gotten to know the characters it was easy to get swept up in it. I've always been fascinated by twins so that part of the story appealed to me. Overall a good book that I enjoyed reading, but I've yet to find a perfect ghost story. Of t...

Two American teenagers, a set of eerily colorless mirror twins, inherit the flat of an unknown English aunt, the twin of their mother. Ghosts and family dysfunction collide, resulting in strange plot twists and a disheartening finale.Initially, I was very drawn into this book; the characters seemed ...

I wonder why I even bother finishing it. Nobody loves anybody in this book, simply owning, owning, owning.. Except martin n marijke. At first I thought the story is quite good. Lots of things are over the top & unnecessary but the theme itself is interesting. Then it degenerated on the last part and i...

This is definitely a strange read, but in a good way. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep it interesting until the very end. The title makes you wonder is the author referring to Valentina and Julia or Elspeth and Edie; both are twins and their lives seem to mirror one anothers. Is the idea...

This book covers a range of interesting topics, including the nature of being twins, secrets, death, and OCD. Niffenegger is good at capturing people's everyday thoughts and awkward moments in an interesting and insightful way. I was fine with the supernatural elements until toward the end, when an ...

I bought the book first, because I love the color aqua. Better still aqua when it has a shimmer effect like in the peacock’s tail feathers, or like the sheen of oil on the water. I hate to see oil on the water but that is how I would now describe this book’s cover-color. Another reason I bought it –...

BAILED at page 149. Life is too short for me to keep trying to like "literary fiction". I don't like ANY of the characters in this book. If they weren't creepy and ick (the twins), they were ocd, dead, grieving or absent.I might have fared better if I'd had some connection with someone in the stor...
