My daughter really enjoys this series. She's almost seven and has read this omnibus edition several times now. We're currently on a re-read at bedtime. For older (9-13) kids if reading alone due to vocabulary and context difficulty (they were written in the late 40's), otherwise perfectly acceptable...

If you don't know Hilary Knight beyond his Eloise illustrations then I say 'get thee to a library!' I love Eloise as much as anyone, but his other endeavors - which are not nearly as well known - are more than worth your time. Plus kids love his books! I mean they eat them up with a fork and spoo...
It seems to me that Hilary Knight’s non-Eloise work doesn’t get the attention it deserves and this little gem of a book totally proves my point. Why the $#&@ is this out of print???** I’ve honestly never cared much for Edward Lear’s poem. I don’t dislike it. It’s just that, beyond having to suppr...
I've only recently been initiated into the wonderful world of Hilary Knight. I started with Knight's most famous work - his illustrations for Kay Thompson's Eloise stories. His illustrations in those are so delightful and really make the stories shine. Eloise could just be an insufferable brat if...
If you enjoyed the original Eloise I feel fairly certain you will love this one. I enjoyed even a tiny bit more! It's really surprising to discover that this was published recently because it captures all of the original character and feel of the original. Eloise is just as exasperating and lovab...
I'd be lying if I didn't say that Eloise struck me as a bit of a tragic figure - the quintessential poor little rich girl. The set up is that Eloise lives in the posh Plaza hotel. Her parents are not in the picture - mom is only vaguely mentioned as being out of the country. She does have a nanny w...
I have been pining over this book for a couple of years - unable to find my very own copy and then finally, earlier this week, my obsessive trips to the rare/vintage book section paid off and I scored my own copy! It's probably time to admit that I have no objectivity when it comes to Hilary Knight. ...
Eloise is a little girl who lives in the Plaza Hotel and pretty much makes the hotel staffs' lives miserable in a quest to entertain herself. She speaks in long, run-on sentences, uses terrible grammar, and I don't believe there is one period in the entire book. It's still absolutely delightful.
