liked the second and 4th books (hart and michaels); the first (danes) - holy nuts on the purple prose and was completely lost on Kessler's book

It's about a girl with anorexia and her delusions of being Famine riding the pale horse. When she attempted suicide by ingesting some of her mothers pills , Death came knocking at her door in the form of a postman . literally. She answers the door and was given a package and told that she was Famine...

Interesting. It's not just the premise that's unusual, but the execution as well. I liked it, I admired it, but I'm not sure that I loved it. I'm still excited to read the next one:)

Hunger is almost like two books in a small (180 page) package. There's the paranormal fantasy with a somewhat unusual premise, and then there's the YA issue novel. Wonderfully strange premise: a teenaged girl is chosen to become one of the four apocalyptic horsemen. A fast, disturbing, worthwhile read. The author's note is wrenching -- don't skip it.

At the same time I felt like this wanted to be two separate books. The fantasy side of the story just didn't mesh well with the realistic drama half for me, ...

This is really something. I love how she has put in an actual disorder that people actually suffer from and made it into a story. I loved it. http://basicallybooks1994.blogspot.com/

I realize it's YA nad I love YA but ... Wow I most definitely wasn't the target audience for this one and not just because it's probably written/geared toward tweens and young teens. It was such a *great* premise, and there were some really cool aspects but it just fell short on many levels. Overall...
