This was a well put together anthology consisting of short stories written in established series created by several different urban fantasy authors. I found a new series to check out which is always a plus. It's a good sampler if you're looking for a new series or author.
What a fascinating combination of teenage "problem novel" and fantasy. Lisabeth is struggling with anorexia and is firmly in denial when she is drafted by Death to be the next Famine. Getting into the mind of a young woman who is anorexic was both fascinating and scary. Her inner voice kept telling ...
This was a disappointing read. The characters were one-dimensional, so poorly fleshed out that it was impossible to relate to them or care about them. The main character, Lisa, had no personality outside of anorexia, and while I understand that eating disorders tend to take over the lives and identi...
The pretense interests me deeply. I love psychology which is what interests me about the anorexic part and I I'm also very interested in the whole Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse thing (seven deadly sins, anything like that)but this book showed up as a recommendation for my "no way in HELL" shelf.So...
"If you have ever looked in the mirror and hated what you saw, this book is for you" ... Upon opening the book, and seeing that message I was already hooked. The premise of this book is what initially caught my attention. Actually, the premise of all the books in this series is what caught my atten...
This one started off well, Jezebel is running for her life she becomes a stripper, as a succubus it makes sense, but then it started to fall off it is all about her day to day life, she is attracted to a human, she is still a stripper, her boss is total scum (yeah I know surprise stripper boss is sc...
Shades of Gray was alright. It has been a long time since I read Black and White, three years almost, and Shades of Gray suffered a bit from me forgetting some pretty important things. If I had read the first book before starting this one, it would have been a four star book and not a three, but too...
Ok I didn't love this book but I didn't quite hate it either. I loved the idea of an anorexic girl becoming one of the horsemen of the apocalypse, Famine. You wouldn't expect that now would ya? To me that was a very risky, but unique idea. I didn't quite understand the fact that the author thinks o...
I actually really liked this book. I think the subject of anorexia is one that is very overlooked sometimes. I liked the irony in a girl who was anorexic being in charge of famine. I liked that the other riders, Death, War, and Pestilence, were portrayed in a somewhat different way than you norma...
When I grabbed this book, I expected it to be fantastic but it didn't. It made me tired reading the constant repetition of description of anorexic, it got dragged, lacked of plot and it also left me in confusion. I agreed with other readers that something is missing in this book. The reason I picked ...
