She's going to put Martinez in as a love interest now? I didn't see that coming because I thought Mel and Joe had a good thing going. And for some of Mel's circle to encourage the Martinez angle has thrown me for a loop. That phone call at the end was evil! Especially since I wasn't planning on read...
Jenn McKinlay appeases my inner Anglophile with her newest addition to her Hat Shop Mystery series with "Death of a Mad Hatter". Added to the mix this time around is the whimsical theme of Alice in Wonderland tea party thrown by the wealthy Grisby family for a new local hospital wing. The cousins Sc...
I'm going to start by saying that I think Jenn McKinlay is one of the most talented cozy authors currently writing. Writing as Jenn McKinlay she has yet to produce a cozy series that doesn't start out strong from the first book, with likeable characters, excellent settings and well-plotted murders....
Melanie Cooper and Angie DeLaura are back in this sixth cupcake mystery and their cupcakes are donning tiaras! As a favor to her mom Mel agrees to provide cupcakes for the seventy-fifth annual Sweet Tiara Beauty Pageant. It is great publicity for Fairy Tale Cupcakes and when their young friend Lupe...
Fun read. The characters are all very likable. Well maybe with the exception of Ms. Cole. She is a piece of work! Get over it lady! But I guess there always has to be one that tries to put a stick in the wheels. As the story went on, it became easy to figure out who the killer was. It was almost lik...
The "bad guy" in this one was EXTREMELY obvious to me, but that's not a big problem. The BIG PROBLEM is Ms. McKinlay's decision to go the dreaded triangle route! She is such a good writer that she REALLY doesn't need such tired, played out gimmicks to build readership. If this continues I'll be f...
This review also posted at A Bookish CompulsionRead it and Weep is a cute and cozy mystery with a charming setting, a lovable cast of characters and a plot that is undemanding of a readers mental powers. The fourth book in the Library Lover’s Mystery series, it became clear within the first few chap...
Anyone who has read my previous Jenn McKinlay book reviews knows that I've gushed over her books. I've held her up as the standard by which modern cozy writers should be judged. At the very least, I've said her books should be examples to other modern cozy writers of how to write a Good Cozy Myste...
Dollycas’s ThoughtsI loved this story! Not a huge fan of reading Shakespeare but love watching the plays and this production sounded like so much fun especially due to a very surprising twist.Let’s face it Jenn McKinlay never disappoints. Each story is better than the last. She creates awesome chara...
Jenn McKinley is one of my favorite cozy mystery writers. Her lead characters are likable, the secondary characters quirky enough to be interesting but not ridiculous and the mysteries are solid. In this one Angie & Mel leave the cupcake shop for the rodeo and it's fun to see the gang on the road....
