Philosophical Musings of a Book Nerd
Well, I wanted something quick to read so I could write a review while I was sitting in my hotel in Amiens (though I probably should be sleeping, but then again I am one of those people who tries to squeeze as much into my day as possible) and was not expecting to visit the Jules Verne House until W...

I did not enjoy this volume as much as volume 2. I feel like more cool stuff happened in the first volume. The ending of this one was so unexpected and crazy. I can't wait to read the next volume!

Not particularly clear, this volume is about the music industry in the last decade with a healthy dose of magic thrown in. Our main character, Emily, has surrendered half her personality to the Adversary. There's lots of references to 1980s music videos but it's all a bit too clever-clever for my ta...

Quite confusing, this volume deals with Laura's quest to find out why Luci died and who was responsible. She encounters the gods in various guises, some of whom seem to be helping her. The Norns return and certain rivalries between the gods intensify. Trying not to give too much away, this series ...

The premise behind this comic collection is that gods can appear on Earth for two years with powers which they use usually for their own ends before they die. In this first volume, they tend to appear as music/rock stars in London. The plot is about murder and trying to find out which of the gods is...

Now, usually I do try to write my own synopsis. But really in this case Image nailed it. Every ninety years, twelve gods incarnate as humans. They are loved. They are hated. In two years, they are dead. The team behind critically thermonuclear floor-fillers Young Avengers and PHONOGRAM reunite to s...

Well, it's literally perfect in all of the ways. It's just, I… didn't really relate to the characters? At all? It's all cool to read, but yeah, I didn't relate to the protagonist, or to any god except Sakhmet obviously. So, this is really good, but I don't know if I'm going to read the next volume.

Ok... It was kind of confusing. They changed the art style and I wasn't a fan of the change. Story was not going anywhere and I was kind of expecting this volume to be more... explainable, specially with how the 2nd one ended. A bit disappointing. I hope Volume 4 covers for this one.

Phonogram is the type of graphic novel that you feel really cool reading. At first it's a little confusing- it does that thing that a lot of fantasy books do where it just sort of throws you into the characters' world without much explanation. Pretty much all you need to know is that it takes place ...
