The fictional tale of Mackenzie Allen Phillips younger daughter and the tale of her possible murder is heart breaking and sickening to the soul which is why Mackenzie still grieves what he can not get back . The sudden note from God is a blessing undisguised.I loved the story so much I really wish s...

I thought this was a great work of fiction for a seemingly religious book. It was heartbreaking at times and funny at times. It made me think of things differently, especially judgment, how I and everyone judge people, things prior to really knowing who or what they are really about, I guess you c...

I am having a hard time articulating my thoughts about "The Shack." I'm a walkaway from what I now understand was a somewhat abusive, conservative/fundamentalist church and have only recently begun to re-explore Christian theology. Having found a progressive church was a great start on the road.My...
Mandrake's Cabinet of Readables & Curiosities
I first heard of The Shack by William P. Young in early 2008, and although some people were hailing it as an 'it-changed-my-life' masterpiece, I was aware that some very influential preachers were condemning it as pure heresy. I really enjoyed this book. It's a short read and puts a spin on what you may believe is true.

I approached this book rather hesitantly. I'd heard a LOT of good things about it, how it'd changed the reader's life - but just as many readers turned around and accused it of heresy and blasphemy. However, I trust my minister not to lead me astray, so once I heard that he'd read it and approved of...

I really enjoyed this book. What a concept! I think it was recommended to me here based on previous selections. I put it on reserve at the library a month ago, and my number finally came up.What I liked especially about this book was the personification of God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and other sp...

Novels about religion are a very iffy thing for me. I tend to love stories that speak to the spiritual aspect of human beings or delve into philosophical manners but I have little patience for books that teach a religious dogma. I was afraid that The Shack would be one of those books and, in fact, t...
