Audio read by Frank Muller. Arkady Renko is working on the slime line on a fishing boat when one of the crew is found dead.

I am quite a fan of Martin Cruz Smith's more recent books, so I've been working on picking up his older ones as well. This one, however, I'd recommend giving a miss. I recognize that horror often depends on taking ordinary things and making them somehow "spooky," but "Nightwing" engages in fearmonge...

I just really love Cruz Smith's Arkady Renko spy thrillers. I like his other books too, but there's just something about these... I was really sad that after I read this book, there'd be no more that I hadn't read... and then I went online, and there's a new one out due next month! Yay! "Stalin's Gh...

Smith published this book directly after his big hit, 'Gorky Park.' However, it never achieved that much success. Reading it, I can see why. It's an interesting concept, but not necessarily wholly successful. It's an historical novel about a Native American man, Joe Pena, in the US military who is as...

A tight, tensely plotted mystery/thriller set in a 19th-century English coal-mining town. Kept me up late at night!

The first of the Arkady Renko novels, and one of the best modern thrillers around. Three faceless bodies turn up in Moscow's Gorky Park, and it is up to Renko to solve it. Top notch writing, smart characters, and nonstop action make this worth reading. To read the complete review, please go here:htt...

One of the few times where I wished I had read the book because the narration by Henry Stozier was only so so. I will continue on with the series though since it is so universally acclaimed and I enjoy stories set in the Soviet Union.
