Sherry Thomas is one of the hottest new voices in historical romance, garnering the highest praise from today’s bestselling writers (“Entrancing.” —Mary Balogh; “Ravishingly sinful, intelligent and addictive.” —Eloisa James). Now Sherry delivers this powerful story of a remarkable woman and the love she thought she’d never find—with the man she thought she’d lost forever.… Their marriage lasted only slightly longer than the honeymoon—to no one’s surprise, not even Bryony Asquith’s. A man as talented, handsome, and sought after by society as Leo Marsden couldn't possibly want to spend his entire life with a woman who rebelled against propriety by becoming a doctor. Why, then, three years after their annulment and half a world away, does he track her down at her clinic in the remotest corner of India? Leo has no reason to think Bryony could ever forgive him for the way he treated her, but he won’t rest until he’s delivered an urgent message from her sister—and fulfilled his duty by escorting her safely back to England. But as they risk their lives for each other on the journey home, will the biggest danger be the treacherous war around them—or their rekindling passion?

This comes close to visually representing how I felt reading this. I'll let you soak that in for a sec. What stupid children they had been, to cause each other such pain and then to hold on to their wounds so fiercely. The book page count for this claims it is 341 pgs, my friends, I blew t...

I struggle with my finally rating. I have to think about it. I have to say something. This isn't and probably never will be a review of a book, but rather a self-reflection.There are a few things that I did not quite appreciate. I am not certain that the pull between Leo and Bryony (I hate this name...

2.0 Not Quite a Husband

4.0 #CBR5 Book 139: Not Quite a Husband by Sherry Thomas
Briony Asquith and Leo Marsden grew up on neighbouring estates. Leo loved Briony long before she was even aware of him as anything but the baby Marsden, youngest of four brothers. So when the brilliant, yet socially awkward lady physician proposed to outgoing, talented renaissance man Leo, he was el...

This could have been a five star book--I love Sherry Thomas--but it took the heroine too long to get over her butt-hurt feelings. She went into the marriage with butt-hurt feelings and she had to get herself and the hero practically killed to figure things out. But such is the way of romance.
