What if someone took Horatio Hornblower and put him in a sci-fi setting? What you would get is a one of the best military sci-fi books I have read. Weber has morphed the character into Honor Harrington and made her the captain of a Starship, but you still get a headstrong, duty bound, extremely comp...

On Basilisk Station is a slow journey to a gripping finish. The ending of the story had me on the edge of my seat. However, the exposition was quite tedious.Honor never makes one mistake. Even if she does make a mistake, it's a small mistake that is overshadowed by resounding victory. She is a rathe...

A solid, entertaining romp, marred only by Weber's tendency to interrupt action with long, boring, overly technical exposition. Seriously, this is space opera, not military manuals. Lighten up a bit. Still, sets up an entertaining and interesting premise and character. Weakened a bit by less charact...

I think I am not a military fiction person. I just couldn't get interested in this. And I imagined reading a Horatio Hornblower book now, and I think I would have the same reaction. Putting the military fiction in sci-fi doesn't make me like it more. It actually is distracting to me. I read 3/4 then...

I cannot give this book any rating below 5. It was just that good. Honor Harrington is such a great, strong character, but all the side characters are extremely well fleshed out and interesting. This one is definitely going to be a re-read in the future.

Honor's hit bottom -- and there's nowhere to go but up. The best of the epic space battles to the death, Honor's an officer we'd all love to follow. There's a part of me that feels like On Basilisk Station is the utter best out of the entire Honorverse series, and that may be because I adore when a g...

I am very torn regarding how I should rate this book. On the one hand I did quite enjoy the read. The battle scenes were very well done (if too few) and I do really like the character of Honor Harrington. It is important that you like Harrington because you will be spending a great deal of time in h...

*5+ Stars* It's done! Again! I've read this three times and each time it's better than the last.*The Gush* There is so much to put in here. I could write a book about how good this book is. The characters are AWESOME! The writing is brilliant! The plot never drags or loses your interest. The science...
