was really looking forward to it, but the stories were a bit of a let down - most of them seemed incomplete and needing something. the best part was the reflections by each author at the end of each story about their experiences with censorship

When high school students John and Lorraine call Mr. Pignati on a crank phone call, they are expecting just some the usual laughs from a juvenile prank. But instead, an unusual friendship develops between this lonely man and these kids. I had read this many years ago in high school and didn't reme...

This won the Pulitzer for drama in 1971. I don't think it deserved the distinction. The most interesting thing about it was the foreword added in 1996 in which the author explains how the play was somewhat autobiographical.

The most disappointing of Paul Zindel’s books. Just a little too cynical without any really sympathetic characters and a flimsy plot

This book was the first time I exposed my Zindel habit to the world with a book report: My English teacher approved, my mother did not.Probably one of Zindel's hardest books: I finished it feeling confused and let down by everyone with the impression that most adults make crappy role models.Despite ...

I remember enjoying this book at the time but had forgotten I'd actually read it until I was looking up Paul Zindel titles. Not necessarily a reflection on the quality of the book rather on my voracious teenage book-worming.
