I'm glad I read this book now rather than when I was younger. I don't think I would have fully appreciated the romance between Anne Elliott and Captain Wentworth if I didn't have the perspective on marriage that I have now. And I wouldn't have enjoyed it nearly as much. This is not a playful story l...

Well, there for a while I didn't think I would get this done. But, I finished last night and haven't been happier for finishing a book in a long time!I had never read Jane Austen before and while many told me this wasn't her best book, this is the one that was at the top of my TBR. Reading this, I r...

Powerful. That is the one word, I would use to describe this book. For it is truly powerful in every aspect and in every possible way; always leaving me overwhelmed, choked up with suppressed laughter at the ridiculousness of Mary Musgrove and Sir Walter Elliot, teary-eyed by Wentworth's beautiful d...

I have attempted to read this book twice and for some reason I simply get lost halfway through, and while I do read it to the end, there is something about this writing that simply does not appeal to me. Okay, I must admit that this book at least holds me for the first part, where as some books simp...

Incomparable to Pride and Prejudice. In many aspects, Darcy and Elizabeth were so much more better and complex. Persuasion is good but I'm glad it's over. If it was any longer, I wouldn't have read it.

Dear Miss Austen,Ummm... Anne Elliot is past her youth and bloom??? Heh? She is MY AGE! Scratch that - she is younger than me. **..........Basically, get off my lawn, kids. I mean it..............In all seriousness, this is the first Jane Austen book that does not feature a pretty and charming teena...

In Persuasion our hero and heroine are neither interesting nor do they have an obvious magnetic attraction for one another, and as readers we always knew they'd get together in the end, and yet we're still glad they do. I attribute that to Austen's own persuasiveness.Unlike in some of Austen's bette...

My first impression of Persuasion was that Jane Austen writes some interesting and detailed characters. Right from page one, Sir Walter was my favorite character. He’s a jerk, yeah, but he’s hilarious. I don’t know that the characters in this book are as modern as they are in say Pride and Prejudice...

This was the last of Jane Austen's books that I hadn't read. I think I was taking my time to get to it as I liked having one left to read. But now that I have read it, it is no surprise that I loved every bit. I think more than any of Austen's other books, very little happens in this book. Its fo...

Persuasion is my second Jane Austen novel after the brilliant piece of dry wit, storytelling and writing that is Pride and Prejudice. While I found the writing beautiful ultimately my summation is that the story was far more serious and lacked the degree of wit and humour which provided warmth to P...
