I kept forgetting this is from '81, so I spent the whole book going, "WHAT ABOUT DNA?!"But it was great, I'd only read Hannibal (which was amazing, too) but Harris really knows how to draw the reader in without fancy trappings, just plain good ol' writing.Man, anyone watching the new Hannibal tv ser...

I actually rounded up to 4 stars, but would really give it a 3 1/5. Certainly not enough Hannibal for me in this one, but I found the "Tooth Fairy" to be a formidable protagonist in his absence.

Red Dragon is even more creepy and suspenseful than Silence of the Lambs was (if that's even possible).I don't think it matters that I read them in the wrong order because, although Hannibal Lecter is a recurring character, they're completely different stories.
