Michael Fleet explains the religious makeup of Latin America both in the present age and in the past. With 70 percent Catholic there is still quite a bit of diversity, which he goes on to explain through out the course of his chapter. Quite a lengthy section is focused on the Catholics, which is quite necessary. They are broken up into many categories including those who favor the conservatism of the church before the Second Vatican Council of 1962-1965. Opposed to that is the liberal and progressive Catholics rising from the last forty years (since the Second Vatican Council).
