On my Goodreads profile on the “favourite books” line it says: Well written ones, but often I'll settle for entertaining. What it doesn’t say is that sometimes I’m just looking for something entertaining (disclaimer: basic grammar rules should always be adhered to). That’s what I got here.Probationa...
I loved, loved, all of the characters in this book. Loved. The plot, a little less so, and I think the worldbuilding is about halfway there. But it is totally and completely my kind of thing, and I'm excited to move on to the next book.
An excellent series-starter, full of perhaps a bit more world-building than necessarily interesting plotting - but tis a worthwhile trade-off. Rivers of London was an entertaining, quirky and somewhat gritty read, kept consistent by its main protagonist. It was not a philosophical...
My two favourite genres are detective mysteries and science fiction; a successful combination of the two is a very rare treat. I'm discovering, though, that the combination of "urban fantasy" and detective mystery tickles my fancy in much the same way. Because urban fantasy is popular right now, it'...
