I stayed up far too late last night watching the Rob Lowe miniseries adaptation and now I'm jonesing to read the book, despite chortling a bit over Rutger Hauer and Donald Sutherland's performances as an elderly gay vampire and his elderly human lover watchdog. Like revisiting the pages of the monster magazines of my youth. The actions of the heroes at the end of the book, it seems to me, would only make matters worse, and not solve the problem at all.

I’ve mentioned repeatedly that I have a hate/love relationship with vampires. I was looking for more books to read in the thriller genre. I enjoyed it, but think it's one of those books that loses quite a bit on a second reading, because the element of surprise is no longer there. Still, it was good entertainment while it lasted :)

When I read this book, I couldn't bear to sleep alone, so I had to bunk on the floor in the dormroom of two good friends. 'Nuff said.P.S. Don't bother with the movie.

This was one of my all-time favorites in high school. I read it repeatedly, late at night, under the covers, with a flashlight, as is only appropriate.

I t scared me so much as a teen/child that I had to rush out and buy a cruifix before finishing the book. That is what a horror book is meant to do. I have no intention of reading it again, do not wish to spoil that memory.Good Times.

Simply the best vampire novel I've ever read. It's creepy and scary, with very traditional vampires, the evil, soulless, bloodsucking kind, not the sparkly kind or the easily-staked kind.
