Twelve. Twelve of the deadliest beasts ever forged in the fires of hell have escaped onto our plane, and they want nothing more than to rip out Charley Davidson’s jugular and serve her body to Satan for dinner. So there’s that. But Charley has more on her plate than a mob of testy hellhounds. For one thing, her father has disappeared, and as she retraces his last steps she learns he was conducting an investigation of his own, one that has Charley questioning everything she’s ever known about him. Add to that an ex-BFF who is haunting her night and day, a rash of suicides that has authorities baffled, and a drop-dead sexy fiancé who has attracted the attentions of a local celebrity, and Charley is not having the best week of her life.
But all of that barely scratches the surface of her problems. Recent developments have forced her to become a responsible adult. To conquer such a monumental task, she’s decided to start small. Really small. She gets a pet. But how can she save the world against the forces of evil when she can’t even keep a goldfish alive?A tad north of hell, a hop, skip, and a jump past the realm of eternity, is a little place called Earth, and Charley Davidson, grim reaper extraordinaire, is determined to do everything in her power to protect it. We’re doomed.

Series: Charley Davidson (#7)
Seventh in this series and so far my favorite. These book have a tendency to spin out, this one actually, kind of, made sense. There is the snarky humor we always expect from Charley and the back wash of side stories, that are always included in these books. There is laugh out loud humor in this one...
Re-Read:March 16 - March 19 2018Charley’s life is never boring. It’s interesting knowing how the story is going to go and now re-reading and picking up on the clues I missed the first time. I’m trying not to dwell on it but I’m really sad this series is coming to a close. I feel like I could read ab...
This was heading for a two and a half star or three star rating, but it got a lot better the further I got into it. The main problem I had is that I think it's time for Charley to grow up a bit. Not that I want her to completely lose the humor and snark that makes her character so endearing to me,...
Charley is facing pregnancy, ominous prophecy and 12 lethal hell hounds hunting her down which are seemingly utterly unkillable She has also given up coffee. The horror! After that she also has to deal with her ongoing complex relationship with Reyes, her missing father, a serial killer who is h...
So I actually started to read Eighth Grave After Dark - Darynda Jones and was like.. "Wait...whut?' Charley and Reyes were married? It was then that I realized I had never read the 7th book. Odd, because I am usually all over these. So, having spoiled my self, I went back and read this one fi...
