#24in48 Read-a-thon Check In #4
A Sultry Love Song (The Gentlemen of Queen City) - Kianna Alexander
The Greek Tycoon's Green Card Groom (Dreamspun Desires Book 14) - Kate McMurray

So this morning was spent grocery shopping with two kids (*sigh*) and then going out as a family to do some school clothes shopping. I read for a little while (timer reads 10 hours 8 minutes) this afternoon and will get back to it tonight with reading to the kids and after they go to bed.

Finished A Sultry Love Song and decided to start The Greek Tycoon's Green Card Groom (my first ever m/m romance). My goal is to end with at least 12 hours reading time and 25% of the new book done. Both books are on my COYER Summer Vacation reading list, which is handy since the 2nd COYER read-a-thon started today. Reminder to my fellow COYER participants: the read-a-thons are voluntary but this one is restricted to only the print books on your list (August's read-a-thon is back to e-books and audiobooks only).

My next update will be my last for 24in48. To my fellow 24in48-ers: Let's finish STRONG!!!

Book Theme Song

(this link will take you to my tumblr post with video)

Follow Me Down by The Pretty Reckless  --I kind of think this song with the same name as the book works perfectly, with the screwed up relationships going on in this book, it's a bit eerie.  ♫

That ending had me like…

My Thoughts

Follow Me Down kept me guessing all the way to the end, I thought, for sure, I knew who it was, and then I flip-flopped…again and again.  Right up to that ending.  I believe, that's what makes for a good murder mystery.  I know it does for me.  I haven't been reading this genre for long, but it's one I plan to read more of in the future.

----------------------------------------------------------

The writing is little distracting at times, but the mystery and atmosphere of Wayota, ND (made-up place, I believe) more than makes up for it.  Although, my biggest issue is with the blatant OTC drug abuse going on with the MC and the blasé way it was addressed.   That could have been dealt with differently or omitted completely.

Ratings Breakdown

#24in48 Read-a-thon Check In #3
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever - Jeff Kinney
A Sultry Love Song (The Gentlemen of Queen City) - Kianna Alexander

Stopping for the night at 8 hours and 33 minutes. 30 of those minutes were used to read aloud to the kids (3 picture books and 22 pages of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever). After the kids were in bed I started A Sultry Love Song by Kianna Alexander and currently stand at 53% done.

Now I just need some sleep. Tomorrow more reading and grocery shopping is on the agenda.

Good night and for those about to pull an all-nighter, we salute you.

Dies the Fire
Dies the Fire - S.M. Stirling

Of all the post-apocalyptic and dystopian fiction I've read, for whatever reason Dies the Fire is the one that haunts me and that I dream about.  And I can't read about what Junie finds at the Fairfax place with dry eyes.

Rest in peace Frank and Joan Fairfax
