Gone for Good ★★☆☆☆
Gone For Good - Harlan Coben

I finished this book only because I was too apathetic to find another one to read. Disappointing, because I really enjoyed Caught and expected to enjoy this, my second Coben book, as much.

Audiobook, borrowed from my local library via Overdrive.

The Miniaturist - DNF (NR)
The Miniaturist - Jessie Burton

It's almost always better to read the book before watching the movie, so I was determined to read this one before watching the PBS miniseries that I DVR'd back in September. But after several attempts, starting and stopping and starting over, where my attention kept wandering, I've decided to put this back on the shelf and watch the show before coming back to the book.

Audiobook, via Audible. Davina Porter is one of my favorite narrators, so it's not her performance that's giving me trouble.

This Dark Road to Mercy - update: I've read 0%.
This Dark Road to Mercy - Wiley Cash,Erik Bergmann,Jenna Lamia,Scott Sowers

Just getting started and I'm already pleased. This book has three things going for it at the start: Kickoff with a Flannery O'Connor quote, Jenna Lamia is reading the audio, and the opening paragraph is an attention grabber.

Sex: Avoided Subject Discussed in Plain English - update: 50%.
Sex: Avoided Subjects Discussed in Plain English - Henry Stanton

One chapter of amusingly dated science on cellular reproduction and genetics. Four chapters warning of the dangers of self stimulation. No information about actual sex.

Not sure which is more amusing: the information, or imagining the poor Gutenberg volunteers trying to read these chapters with a straight face.
