Review: From Away book one
FROM AWAY - Series One, Book One: A Serial Thriller of Arcane and Eldritch Horror - Deke Mackey Jr.

As of right now this book is free on Amazon so get your copy today.

So after reading the blurb I knew I wanted to give this book a try it seemed like it would be good and mysterious.

So on Mossley Island it seems that there is a need for people to be on watch in the lighthouses because something seems to be lurking around though they are not sure what it could be. Especially since the new generation of guards have never seen anything. This island seems to be ruled by a group called Old Men, along with those only in the inner Circle. Though we are left wondering what exactly is this Circle and why can no one talk to others about Circle stuff?

In comes Dawn who has insisted that her father take her to this island since it seems to be where she can get answers to her family background. Though it seems that a group of nuns have taken an interest in Dawn but their intentions are not clear. On the one scene that we come into contact with them and Dawn together I was wondering what their agenda was. Maybe later on in the next books we will find out.

Then we meet Aaron who has lived on this island his whole life he doesn't believe that there is any danger lurking around and he is not wanting to be a part of the lighthouse watch it seems. So when his grandfather starts telling him things he has decided he wants to become the story teller but that means finding the books his grandmother left his mother.

There is so much within this story that has you wondering where is the author going to go with it all. I am interested in this goo that is a drug but the way it comes about is weird. What is it exactly? Where does it come from? We get our first look at that when we are introduced to Wanda who needs to answer to the Old Men it seems they want her to do a job for them and she doesn't have a choice.

I think I will move on to read book two and see what is going to happen next. I have a need to find out what is going to happen now especially with the way the ending came about. It is a cliffhanger so if you don't like those kind of books then this may not be one that you want unless you have book two ready.

Always on my Mind: (Country Romance Serial Series)
Always on my Mind: (Country Romance Seri... Always on my Mind: (Country Romance Serial Series) - Jessica Mills I received this ARC for an honest review.
It's rare for me to give 5 stars to a book so short but this author captured me from the start. The characters were fun and their chemistry sizzling.
Country boy David dreams of singing on the big stage but the ranch is in the family's blood. City girl Sarah is a musical talent agent passing through and hears his talent.
The story moves fast revolving around these two, the laughs and the steam made for an enjoyable read. I look forward to book 2 to see where his career goes.

Stepbrother, Mine #3 - Opal Carew

Yeah, no! This story as a whole had potential. In this 3rd & finally installment Mason turned into a major douche. Dana, so desperate for Mason & to prove that she can be into his lifestyle turned into his lap dog. Literally. I mean, he literally was petting her as she was kneeling next to him as he read a newspaper. There was a smidge of angst when Masons dad decided to kidnap Dana because he wanted to take a go at her. Honestly, I skimmed most of this installment because I couldn't take anymore.

Stepbrother, Mine #2 - Opal Carew

This book is very saccharine & the characters are getting on my nerves. I feel like Mason should've been written younger or Dana should have been written a little older. You can tell there's this huge age difference between them from how they act. It's awful. Dana lost her virginity in this installment but, it was so lack luster I skimmed over it. This series made me remember why I hate serials. This story isn't meant to be a serial series.

Stepbrother, Mine #1 - Opal Carew

So, this is a serial series about a girl named Dana who's mother cut her off financially while she's in the middle of getting her masters (in French poetry...really?). Anyways, Dana's roommate has the bright idea that she should sell her virginity to the highest bidder. So Dana joins this company that'll help her sell herself.

Mason is Dana's ex-stepbrother & when Dana lived with him when she was younger, they were very close. Mason took on the role as protector knowing that her mother didn't care about her & he didn't want his father making a pass at her. Mason (who's also a Dom) was on this companies website (because he's bored with all 4 of his subs) when he spotted Dana. So, of course he bought her contract.

This installment was ok. Not terrible but also not great.
