Midwest Made: Big, Bold Baking in the Heartland
Midwest Made: Big, Bold Baking from the Heartland - Shauna Sever
I'm buying a copy of this one. I checked it out at the library but now, I have to buy a copy as I really like it. It's a big, heavy cookbook filled with sweets for very occasion. There is a lot of comments written by Shauna inside this cookbook which is interesting to read and makes the recipes personal. Yet, this also throws off some of the recipes formatting if you like your recipes to be all on one page or if you like your recipes to begin at the top of the page.

I liked all the different recipes inside this book and all the different tips and suggestions that Shauna offered. Of course, some of the recipes are some I have used in the past but some new and some are recipes that I have made in the past but Shauna took and added to. Now, I like an apple pie but I would like to try a Double-Crusted Apple Pie just to say that I tried one, and the Real Deal St. Louis Gooey Butter Cake sounded real tasty, because butter cake is super good. Now, I would love to make the Donut Loaf, the Caramel Apple Apple Cake, the Scotch-a-Roos (yes! I love these) Buckeye Bars, Raspberry Poke Cake, and Pumpkin Meringue Pie just to name a few of the recipes that caught my eye.

Not every recipe inside this book has an picture but those that do, look delicious. I do wish that some of the recipes were labeled as that would help decipher one dish from another. Each recipe has some personal information about the recipe from Shauna. The recipe states how many the recipe will serve, the ingredients in cups and in grams and detailed steps on how to prepare the recipe. Some recipes have hints or shortcuts to them. I liked that the recipes contain normal every day ingredients and like flour, brown sugar, unsalted butter, fine sea salt, bittersweet chocolate, cream cheese, and cabbage. You might need to find some nuts, coconut milk, white chocolate, or almond extract but it all depends on the recipe.

With 318 pages, an index, a table of contents, an introduction, and 11 chapters to choose from, there has to be something inside this Midwest cookbook to put you in the kitchen.

Misc Children's Books Part 1
Be Bold! Be Brave! Chiquitos: 11 Latinas Who Made US History - Naibe Reynoso,Jone Leal
The Little Horse - Luke Helmer
Mosque - David Macaulay
Aesop's Fables Box Set 1 - Reading Eggs
Mama's Daycare - Swapan Debnath,Ngozi Edema
The Perfect Potty Zoo: The Funniest ABC ... The Perfect Potty Zoo: The Funniest ABC Book (Potty Training Book, Rhyming Book for Kids 2-5 Years Old, Toddler Book, potty training books for toddlers, potty book) - Agnes Green,Zhanna Mendel
The Big Splash - Ed Ouano
Arial the Chef - Mary Nhin,Jelena Stupar
It's Not Easy Being a Unicorn - Beatriz Rare
Kaulele The White Fairy Tern - Carleigh Vollbrecht

With the exception of Mosque, I picked these up for free.

Mosque is good, and if you have read the author's other books, it is like those.

Be Brave! Be Bold! is actually pretty good and is about famous Latinias.  While I know the book is intended for a young audience, there could have been a bit more in the bios about the women at the end.

The Little Horse is a Christian story about a horse who was present at Christ's birth.  It is actually one of the better ones.  It reminded me of Nestor the Long Eared Christmas Donkey or the Little Drummer Boy Christmas shows.

The Aesop Box Set  contains a few fables, but the illustrations are good.  It's nice.

Mama Daycare is a sweet book that presents the fear of going to school for the first time in a different way.  It was cute.

The Perfect Potty Book is extactly as advertised.

Arial Chef - not the best, but the bits at the end about how to make Sushi were nice.

Big Splash - good if you like Dinos

It's Not Easy Being Unicorn and Kaulele the Fairy Tern are the best two.  Wonderful story about unicorn that you can see being adapted by Pixar.  Interesting story about a bird.

Amazing Grace - Mary Hoffman,Caroline Binch

Amazing Grace is an amazing book that is full of boldness and courage. Grace is a young girl who is determined to be whatever she wants to be. Even though some of her peers think otherwise, Grace becomes Peter Pan in a play at her school. This book can be read at anytime of the year to your students and can support the students with self-love and courage. Also, this book can support student's decisions as they choose to be or do whatever they want.I would definitely read this in my classroom during whole group reading.

Cowboy Bold
Cowboy Bold - Carolyn Brown All Retta Palmer wants is a relatively simple summer while she is awaiting a job of her dreams. Although she was raised on a ranch, this is definitely not something in her future. City life, here she comes. Meanwhile, Cade Maquire is very happy his ranch is about to open up again for a eight underprivileged kids. This is something that he very much looks forward to each year When he meets the new girls' counselor, he doesn't realize how much fun his summer will actually be.

Retta may not have a lot of experience working with 'tweens, but her genuinely kind personality, along with some other exceptional skills, makes her an invaluable part of the team. How close does Retta want to get close to her new boss Cade? The draw is real, on both parts, but she has a life plan, and he and his life there on the ranch could never fit in.

Cowboy Bold is a quick romance that is peppered with humor and the right amount of sexiness and sweetness. Retta and Cade have sparks flying all over the place, but that is just part of the story. The kids were great, as well as the activities. I really enjoyed this story, and, as a matter of fact, I read the next book in the Longhorn Canyon series, Cowboy Honor, immediately following this read.

The next three books in the series are, Cowboy Brave, released on January 8, 2019 and Cowboy Rebel and Christmas with a Cowboy, set for release later this year.
