Review: The Watcher: And the Origins of Magic by Luis Robles
The Watcher: And the Origins of Magic - Luis Robles

The Watcher: And the Origins of Magic is the first book in the two book series The Gates of Oblivion by Luis Robles. This is the story of Bliss, the last Child of Power.

Plot 4/5: I thought the plot was interesting.
Characters 4/5: I loved Bliss and Pah.
World building 3/5: I thought the world building could have used a bit more detail.
Pacing 4/5: The pacing was steady with spurts of action.
Writing 2/5: This book has a lot of potential, though I feel this book could have used better editing.

Overall 3.4

Purchased from Amazon.

Sex, Soup, and Two Fisted Eating: Hilarious Weight Loss for Wives - Katie Robles,Gregg Bridgeman,Amanda Smith

SEX, SOUP AND THE TWO FISTED EATING: HILARIOUS WEIGHT LOSS FOR WIVES BY KATIE ROBLES Was skeptical wanting to read this book but the author in chat assured us we would be laughing. She was right! Besides having discussions about sex, soups and religion you just can't see it all going together but it does. There are quotes from all over the Bible to back up what's being said. It's basically a book about a lifestyle including sleep, soup and exercise. We follow the Mediterranean lifestyle and this sounds very similar to it as the food is very healthy. Lots of recipes but no nutritional information but you can tell from the healthy ingredients it will taste good and still be good nutrition wise. Love how she tells you to experiment with all aspects of this til you get the right combination to make it all work for you. For her it helped solve her weight problem and high cholesterol problem. For us it's just a way of life now-don't want any more heart attacks. What causes us concern is still seeing all the bad food others eat at work to no avail telling them to better themself-they want no part of it=maybe after they have a heart attack they will be persuaded. Love resources by chapter although she's not a licensed nutritionist she's done her homework! I was given the book by the author via Book Fun (The Book Club Network) and here is my honest review.

"This is a heartfelt true story of how Emmi, an injured Rottweiler pup, came into the author’s life, and the ups and downs that ensued. Reading the story of Emmi had me laughing and crying along with the author." reviews Julie Geter Baswell

Book Description
And the Dog-Ma saga continues...

In this highly anticipated sequel to the best-selling Dog-Ma, The Zen of Slobber, Izzy, the feisty and ferocious terrier, has lost her eyesight. Following on the heels of this devastating loss, her arch-rival Morgan - a gentle giant of a Rottweiler - suddenly succumbs to cancer. Finding herself a lonely-only, it's not long before Izzy finds herself nose-to-nose with her humans' new pet project: a foster Rottie pup also named Morgan. Quickly renamed Emmi to avoid confusion (and the wrath of Izzy,) it was to be the beginning of a journey unlike any other.

Severely injured as a newborn, Emmi—affectionately known to her fast-growing online fan base as Baby Morgan the Broken Jaw Puppy—is hanging onto life by a thread. Living with a crushed jaw that has left her unable to open her mouth to eat or drink, the prognosis is grim. Baby Morgan is starving to death. Having rescued her from a horrific life, her parents spring into all-out desperation mode to find her the best lifesaving medical care. Despite the advice of veterinary professionals to euthanize, her parents are determined to save her at all costs. Taking to the Internet, they rally a huge online community of dog lovers who quickly become their second family. It does not take long for Emmi's sheer determination and ferocious will to live to take hold.

This is Emmi's miracle. A story of hope, inspiration and triumph in the face of adversity.

Мои Камчатские Соседи - Igor Shpilenok

To all the wolf (and werewolf) lovers out there - latest pic from my fav Russian nature photographer. He's married to an American WWF activist, Laura Williams. When not traveling, they live in a small Russian village near Bryansky forest national park (the woman is a hero, I tell you).

He specializes in bears and foxes (his are the loveliest foxes and sweetest bears ever), but does an occasional wolf or wolverine or sable too, all natives of Russia :)

He has a volunteer that translates his blog into English:

And here is his Russian blog (with more pictures - the translation lags behind up to half a year)

He has published a couple of books with photos.

And I'm not affiliated with either Laura or Igor, I'm just a quiet reader of his blog :)
