This Time Around - Ellie Grace

A sweet and short romance book.

Nora and Jake were girlfriend and boyfriend, until one fateful evening when Jake didn't show up during a very important date. Nora left for college and didn't come back. Until now that is.

I really liked Nora, she was a really great girl and though I wish she had gone against her dad more. Not let herself be shipped off away from home that easily. But I really liked her how she acted, how friendly she was and how quickly she forgave Jake, when she found out why he never showed up. (which btw, was nothing earth-shattering, so nothing of him cheating or whatsoever (which I kind of expected though, knowing Jake's past)).

Jake, ah Jake, I really liked him, though I wish he was a bit more honest with things. Instead of letting things just happen, I wish he tried more, tried to communicate with Nora. Not only about that thing that broke them apart, but also about a certain girl that popped in his life during that break-up time).

The side-characters: Susie and Ethan, were really lovely and I liked that they were prominent in the story. They seem to be a perfect couple and I really loved the wedding. Especially Susie, she was a wonderful friend and I love her and Nora's conversations about various things.

I really disliked Nora's parents, for what they did, and for being not letting her go, they just have to control every aspect of her life. Sorry, but your daughter has grown up, let her go. Let her decide what she wants. And not only trying to control her, but they are also trying to get rid of Jake in many ways as possible. Tsk, sad that parents are sometimes like this.

Also I loved the dual POVs, really nice to get to know them both instead of seeing it only from one POV.

I however skipped over the sex scenes or various times that Jake's hard erection were mentioned. There weren't that many in the beginning but around the middle things just started to heat up more, and I was like no thank you, no thank you at all. : I should have know not to read NA unless I was sure there wouldn't be too much of this.

All in all I would rate this book 3 stars.

Annie and Fia: A Mind Games Short Story - Kiersten White

have had an interest in the Mind Games for some time, but wasn't sure to start it. Then I noticed there was a lovely prequel book, and decided to check that out.

This book is about Annie and Fia. Annie is apparently blind, but can sometimes see visions (one such vision even changed everything about Annie and Fia's world), and Fia protects her sister and apparently has super instincts.

I really loved both of the characters. Annie a bit more than Fia. I don't know. Fia was a bit too angry at a lot of things at times, while Annie was different and more interesting to read about.

It was a bit confusing how the time skipped at every change of character. One moment is at Keane, the next it is before Keane again. I do hope the normal book isn't like this, or if it is, that it is a bit less confusing. Also some of the events happening had me all confused. Had to re-read them a few times, but still not sure what happened there. Maybe it will all become clear when I read Mind Games.

Well when one of my libraries has Mind Games (for once, miracle!, they have an English book) in again, I will get it.

Eat, Brains, Love - Jeff Hart

This book is written from 2 POVs. Cass who works at the government and is a psychic teenage girl. Then we have Jake, who is our zombie with a conscience.

I applaud the book for showing another way of zombieness. This time it is like herpes, it is sexually transmittable. I really liked that idea, it is new (at least for me), no more biting people = turning into a zombie. No, no, you have to have sex (without protection it seems).

While I loved Jake, he was a really great guy, trying his best to survive in the crazy world as it is now. Suddenly he turned zombie on his friends and he is now on the run with Amanda another girl who turned zombie on her friends at the same time as Jake. He is trying to make the right decisions, doesn't want this, doesn't want to eat people, but has too, because well other means won't work that well.

I didn't like Cass, while it gave us an insight in the whole government thing, I also found it boring to read about it and I didn't really like Cass. And I got tired of the constant nose bleeds. :
Those chapters that featured Cass were quite a chore to get through.

And let me say this. I HATED the ending. By God, I was hoping for a conclusive ending, let the book be done, but noooo of course not. Well I am not going to be reading the second book. I will probably hunt for reviews and see what they say.

Pivot Point - Kasie West

I will be short, it was an interesting book. I really liked that you start out with one story, and then it branches out to 2 stories.

However, while there were enough changes, it felt (around the middle) like I was just reading 2 sides of the same story. A lot of things that happened in branch one, also happened in branch 2. The only things different were a few actions, the guys and some events. But a lot was the same, and that was a shame.

I loved the romance. Trevor was a really cute and swoonworthy guy, while Duke... well I always had the feeling he was just a slimy player who used his powers for bad stuff. :

Our main character was really good, I really liked her, and how she acted in the 2 branches and also in the normal story line. She was really nice, but also wasn't easily taken over by things.

I also liked the whole compound/normal world thing. Really creative.
