The Wolf Siren
The Wolf Siren - Karen Whiddon

Lilly has been held captive and tortured for 15 years. Thought dead by her twin brother Lucas, she is rescued by him and The Pack (in The Lost Wolf's Destiny). Turns out there are some of the group that escaped and are free and are after Lilly. Kane, one of The Pack's Protector's, is assigned as her bodyguard.
I thought Lilly started out very meek, scared at her own shadow at first. I liked how she gradually got stronger and more self confident. I liked how she was able to save herself and didn't require rescuing. I was pleasantly surprised!
One thing that I thought was strange was how Kane was surprised more than once by the approach of someone. As a wolf shifter, I would have thought he had enhanced hearing and would have heard.

A Hunter Under the Mistletoe
A Hunter Under the Mistletoe: All Is BrightHeat of a Helios - Sarah Addison Allen,Karen Whiddon

2 stories: All Is Bright and Heat of a Helios by different authors.
Rafe and Gabe are brothers who own a casino. The first story is Rafe's, the 2nd is Gabe's.
Rather then reviewing each, I'm lumping them together because my issues are similar. First, I like the cover, but it's misleading because doesn't fit the book. (Yeah, I *know* that's the first time that's happened, right?!)
I thought this was an interesting concept, but failed in execution. Maybe I would have liked it better had they been 2 full length books by the same author? I liked Evangeline at the beginning of the book, but didn't by the end. I thought Meghan very naive and dumb.

Some boundaries are made to be crossed…

A rare Vedjorn bear shifter, Eric Mikkelson lives on his own terms. So allying with wolf shifters, even gorgeous Julia Jacobs, bristles his loner instincts. But Eric must protect his infant son from the dangerous shifter cult stalking him. However, keeping JJ at arm's length proves nearly impossible. She gets under Eric's skin, exposing them to new risks as their staggering attraction defies Pack laws, and JJ's own dark secrets fester between them.

When the safe haven of their shifter-friendly town is violated, lying low is no longer an option. Julia and Eric must embrace the power of their inner beasts, even if it means sacrificing their forbidden bond.

I've been a fan of Karen Whiddon for so long that every time I read her books it feels like I'm coming home. I was thrilled when I got to read a copy of Her Guardian Shifter - Whiddon wins with her shifter romance. The crazy from page one to the last keeps you going even when both you and JJ are thinking Oh, hell no.

Between the relationship drama, the community drama and the personal drama there's some serious issues for both JJ and Eric to work through. The worst of it is that there's a child involved. I'm impressed that despite being a parent Eric manages to juggle all his issues, his wants and the crap that comes with his package once he and JJ begin their involvement.

Turn off your marathon of Housewives whoever and read Her Guardian Shifter. Drama is afoot in this book.

Until next time book lovers...

The Lost Wolf's Destiny
The Lost Wolf's Destiny - Karen Whiddon

Blythe's daughter is sick. Exhausting her resources, Blythe turns to Jacob Gideon. Jacob promises to heal her daughter Hailey.
Granted, if Blythe had listened to her instincts we wouldn't have had a story. Her instincts are good ones (and she is a Shifter too). So, despite she being an idiot, I got into the story. I could see someone who loved their kid, doing something desperate and ignoring everything else. Lucas was a good hero, wounded, but was able to overcome. I liked that there was more going on then at first appeared.
