Noam Chomsky (Penguin Modern Masters)
Noam Chomsky - John Lyons,Frank Kermode Worth a read, especially if you can get it second-hand for $1. Looks like there is at least a third edition now, which I imagine will fill in a lot more detail and development. It is very brief, and therefore a quick read though technical in parts. I thought Chomsky a significant enough person to read this although I have no linguistics background. Lyons does touch on some reasons why Chomsky is important even outside of his academic field.

The Bridge Over the River Kwai: A Novel
The Bridge Over the River Kwai: A Novel - Pierre Boulle Had lots to say but the app was broken. Liked it less the second time. I actually think most of the changes the filmmakers made work better - except of course for the travesty of the film ending.

Bilinguality and Bilingualism
Bilinguality and Bilingualism - Michel Blanc,Michel H.A. Blanc I found this book a bit too academic, but nevertheless it was worth reading. It covers different aspects of bilingualism: social, neurological and psychological foundations of bilingualism as well as the cultural and social consequences of that phenomenon.

Photoreading, 3rd Edition
Photoreading - Paul R. Scheele No no no, this book didn't work on me. I think that the general concept is ok but it isn't well executed in this very book. The processes through which we can acquire this ability is quite simple but Scheele didn't get round to it enough. I frankly didn't like it.
