A Devil of a Duke - Madeline Hunter

I enjoyed the adventure of the two main characters. The thief took the duke to task and I enjoyed how she turned his world upside down.  He was so stubborn and a great fit for her.  Their banter back and forth made for an entertaining story. It had the highs and lows and emotional tension that makes for good romance.  At times you truly think he is going to put her on a ship for America once they get the stolen items back, which built up the tension and sadness when she truly felt she was slowly losing him as the time drew near to end things. I also think this walk on the criminal side was exactly what he needed to break his rakish ways and force him to see the value of friendship and freshness that she brought to his life.  I don’t think a woman of his ilk would ever have satisfied him or caught him. It truly took someone like her to get him out of blind rut and show him how to truly live.  Their adventure and plot were great and I like that she kept him on his toes and continuously kept surprising him with her reactions and responses to things.  They were perfect together and the story was great.

Awesome Historical Romance
The Surrender of Miss Fairbourne - Madeline Hunter

The Surrender of Miss Fairbourne by Madeline Hunter is a fantastic historical romance.  Ms Hunter has given us a well-written book.  Her characters are outstanding.  Emma is trying to run her father’s auction house after his death while being forced to work with smugglers to ransom her brother’s freedom.  Darius is half owner of the auction house and gets in Emma’s way at every turn.  This book is loaded with suspense, humor, drama and sizzle and will keep readers glued to this book.  I loved reading The Surrender Of Miss Fairbourne and look forward to my next book by Madeline Hunter.  This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I read a print copy of this book.

Book Review For: The Most Dangerous Duke in London by Madeline Hunter
The Most Dangerous Duke in London (Decadent Dukes Society) - Madeline Hunter

'The Most Dangerous Duke in London' by Madeline Hunter is the First book in the New Series called "Decadent Dukes Society". This is the story of Adam Penrose, Duke of Stratton and Clara Cheswick.
After the death of his father, Adam leaves to go to France to be with his mother. But now he has returned at the request of Dowager Countess of Marwood. The Countess calls him to visit to try to end feud between the two families since her son has past and his father has died. Countess suggested that a marriage between the two families who be the thing to solve this issue. Her son had actually said that his younger daughter Emilia should be offered to him. Emilia is young lady who is easy to get along with. But Adam sees Emilia and feels nothing for her but while looking out the window at her he does see another women who is riding a horse. Adam asked about her to find that Clara is the oldest daughter by a first marriage. Adam is told that she wold not be suitable as her father spoiled her by letting her get an education, allowing her to do whatever she wants and in addition has left her with land and money...so she feels marriage is beneath her. Clara would make a terrible wife they say. But Adam is attracted to her and if this agreement is gonna work he will settle for her only.
Clara was close to her father and was allowed to do what other young ladies where not. Clara has taken to writing and publishing a ladies journal. So marriage isn't something she is willing to do.
Ms. Hunter writes some of the Best Historical Romances. When I see her name I know that this will be a enjoyable read that will take me away into the story.
This book is a great start to a great series!
"My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

The Most Dangerous Duke in London (Decadent Dukes Society)
The Most Dangerous Duke in London (Decadent Dukes Society) - Madeline Hunter Independent in spirit, mischievous of heart and determined of mind. Characters like Clara are a joy to read because they are inspiring, passionate and full of surprises. Add in a devil like Adam and the temperature quickly goes from frigid to volcanic. Ms. Hunter is good. For every moment that I wanted to hate Adam and his hurtful vendetta, I found myself hurting for him instead. It's easy to judge, but difficult to feel. The Most Dangerous Duke In London is driven by emotions. Some painful and dark, others heated and intense, yet all make for an deeply challenging and sometimes humorous trek.

The Most Dangerous Duke in London (Decadent Dukes Society) - Madeline Hunter

This is the first book by Madeline hunter that I have read. I got it as part of the review team for Sabrina Jeffries, Ava Stone, Deb Marlowe, and now Madeline Hunter, so I didn't know what to expect. I was pleased with the story. Adam was a bit hard to get into as a male character. I knew he came back to London to seek revenge/justice for his dead father and I remember hearing him say something about using the proposal to Clara as a possible means to get that revenge. I knew, in the beginning, he wasn't that serious about a real relationship with her, but I am not sure when his scheming to get close to her in order to learn things turned into true feelings. Even his internal thoughts weren't always clear as to whether he was still using her or falling for her. When did his fake attentions turn into real ones? She was a strong female character and I liked her independence and spirit. Their story was enjoyable and passionate. The moment in his study where she learns that she has fallen in love with a man who might not be able to put the old hatred between their families aside to be with her poignant. How she stands up to her family to get him his truth at the end was also enjoyable to watch unfold. Overall, I did enjoy this story and will read more by this author.
