review SPOILER ALERT! 2014-06-09 08:14
Dead Famous (Kathleen Mallory #7) by Carol O'Connell
Dead Famous - Carol O'Connell

I knew going into this book, that Riker would have more of the spotlight. I had some concerns about it, but I'm pleased to say that I loved the book despite that.

I hated that Johanna had to die. But I loved the pimpernel.

(spoiler show)

The plot was very nice and intriguing and I stayed up late to finish the book.

I do wish there could be more growth to Kathleen's character. I still like her and her mannerisms, but I would like to see her hook up with someone, preferably Charles. That would be nice, although she may end up trampling his heart even more.

Crime School (Kathleen Mallory #6) by Carol O'Connell
Crime School - Carol O'Connell

This is my least liked book so far in this series.

It was nice to see Kathleen's flashbacks and learn more about life on the street.

The plot was also nice, but somewhere along the way I lost a bit of my interest.

I think this book felt slightly more cluttered to me.

Shell Game (Kathleen Mallory #5) by Carol O'Connell
Shell Game (Kathleen Mallory Novels) - Carol O. Connell

Mmm what a ride this book offered.

I absolutely loved it in all its entirety.

The plot was fascinating and very much a page turner for me. I think one of the best parts were, that Kathleen had way more face time than the previous books.

I found it a bit sad for Charles to carry the torch of unrequited love for Kathleen. Either something should happen between them or he should grow out of it. At the moment he resembles a kicked dog too much for my liking.

As for the epilogue - very wicked and one of my all time favorites.

I'm looking forward to starting the next book - I hope Kathleen will be in the front again.

Stone Angel (Kathleen Mallory #4) by Carol O'Connell
Stone Angel - Carol O'Connell

It has been +1 year since my last visit to this series, so it was with some trepidation that I picked this book for my read. I don't remember there being so many POV switches - but that may very well be why I took a break from the series.

Kathleen is exactly as I remembered her. Tough, strong and very capable, although I wish that the spotlight would be more on her. And then there's Charles. He was kind and gentle in the other books and the same in this, but if he doesn't start to grow some balls soon I'll go nuts.

It was very nice to visit Mallory's hometown and see what happened that day it all went awry. Now I just want to know more about what happened after, but before Markowitz.

The Bounty by Beth Williamson
The Bounty - Beth Williamson

Book 1 of the Malloy family series. What happens when a bounty hunter finds his prey only to discover she’s his mate? Nicky Malloy is on the run–from guilt, fear, and a murder charge. After three years, the notorious bounty hunter Tyler Calhoun catches up with the elusive lady outlaw. The intensity of their dislike for each other is only matched by the growing passion they cannot seem to control. A loner by nature, a cold hard hunter by choice, Tyler fights his feelings for his prisoner the only way he knows how–by denying them.

He’s not prepared for how deeply his feelings will run, or how hard it will be to hold her life in his hands. Pursued by two hapless cowboys bent on taking Nicky in themselves, Nicky and Tyler are forced to turn to each other for aid, trust, and comfort as their journey progresses on its rocky road. Caught in a web of lies and murder, they hold on to each other as they travel to Wyoming to confront the man that brought them together. Tyler has to decide if his love for her is worth more than the bounty he was sent to find.

I have a weird thing for Westerns. I like horses. I like farms. I like romances that involve heroes and heroines who do farm work. I like barn sex and inevitable monthly bath that turns a little kinky before the first sex scene. And now you know something a little off about me. The Bounty is the first in the Mallory Family series. I also like series. I’ll be honest and say I can’t exactly remember where I found this book. It may have been Twitter. Either way, it was on my kindle and after My Fair Concubine I was in the mood for another historical.
