Bloody Brat: A Blood Lad Anthology, Vol. 1 - Yuuki Kodama,Kanata Yoshino

When I heard Yen Press would be releasing the anthologies of Blood Lad I knew I just had to get them! :)

So here I am, and I can honestly say I loved it. It was silly, more over the top than Blood Lad (and that is something I thought couldn't be topped). There are several 4-komas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yonkoma) and several normal comics about various characters.

We have stories about Bell who wants to diet because she gained too much fat and the hilarious things that happens after all that. But also stories about Liz, Braz and all the other characters. We even find out about how the mystery meat in the Third-Eye Cafe and what kind of traumas that induces.

So is this volume worth its money? Yes, yes, and more yes. I really loved to see the characters again, and seeing them in hilarious situations was a great plus. However, there was one thing I didn't like. The art-style seemed to have dropped in some places. I had a few panels were it looked like a child had drawn the art, not a famous mangaka. But that is a minor thing, and luckily the rest makes up for that.

If you read the Blood Lad series and want something new, while waiting for new volumes to appear, I would really recommend this one. :) There will be another one coming soon.

Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix, Vol. 1 - Shiro Amano

I decided to re-read this series (or at least the volumes I had at home (yeah for Tokyopop for failing and dropping out)).

This manga basically follows the game story, just adds a few extra things, but nothing really more, so while I don't mind seeing the same things again, I can imagine for those that played the games multiple times, that it will get a bit boring.

I loved the characters, it was so nice to see Sora, Donald, Goofy and a whole lot of other characters again.

The art was a bit strange at times, especially facial expressions were a bit overdone.

Also I wonder why Tokyopop decided to reverse the reading order of the manga, that was really weird.

All in all I would recommend this manga to those who haven't played the game.

Toshokan Sensou: Love & War [In Japanese] Vol.1 - Hiroshi Arikawa

Decided to re-read this one, since I now have Volume 1 to 5, and plan on reading this series fully.

I totally love this series. The anime was fantastic, and I have a good feeling that the manga will be even better. :)

The world setting is one that attracted me to the anime in the first place. A world where books are being censored, where books are taken from bookstores, where there is a war going on at times between two fronts. And I loved the idea of libraries as being the one protecting the books and having their own defence/attack force.

Then we have the characters, Iku and Dojo, who really, well this is no spoiler, like each other though they are both denying it and acting (in the case of Iku) as if she hates him. Iku is a wonderful character, though her hating/crushing on Dojo gets a bit annoying at times, I just wish she would be honest with herself. And her motivation to join the library forces. *snort* I can imagine the committee was laughing about that too.
The side-characters are fun too, and make the story more complete. And they all get a little bit of the spotlight, making them just as important as the main characters.

All in all, I know what is coming (I saw the anime and the movie), but I am still very much excited about it. Can't wait until we reach that point.

My Little Monster 1 - Robico

I watched this anime back when it aired, and I was all sad when the show ended quite soon. But there was much rejoicing when I found out that the manga will be getting an official English release!!!!

This manga is just wonderful, silly, lovely and more. The anime really did its best though, the manga is pretty much the same as the anime. Same silly situations between the characters (especially Haru and Shizuku).

I absolutely love Shizuku and Haru, they go so well together, though it took them some time to get used to each other. Haru is more outgoing, and his temper is really too much at times, while Shizuku is silent and doesn't care for much things but studying. But that changes. Both of them go through changes, Shizuku makes friends and learns to drop the whole I need to study now attitude, while Haru learns to control himself (well kind of) and also learns to make friends.

I also loved the side-characters, they really make everything more colourful and fun.

I would really recommend this manga to everyone. You like romance? Slice of Life? Comedy? Silly Situations? Then this is your kind of manga. :)

終焉の栞 [Shuuen no Shiori] 1 - スズム,結城 あみの

This was a really strange, and at times scary manga.

I loved the mystery part though, and I am still very curious as to how the book works, what the Kokkuri messages say and how the whole game works exactly.

The characters are so-so, I can't really remember them, because of their names. A-ya, D-ne, B-ko etc. You would say it should be easy to remember, but I am confusing who is who again every time. :) And I just wish they would have picked normal names instead of this.

Also I can say, that I absolutely didn't like A-ya. His attitude towards people is urgh. I mean, you know that whoever sees the letter might die, yet for the sake of curiosity and all that, you let your best friend read the letter, and he gets killed. Also I didn't like him making up rumours, while B-ko might not might not mind it that much (ok, she did want to kill him almost), it can be very damaging and painful to others.

Will I read the manga further? I am not sure yet, probably not.
