When you do your part to kill a necromancer, death isn’t the final goodbye.

No, it’s not the end.

Instead, it’s more like pouring gasoline on a dumpster fire…

By day, solo street lawyer Nicole Farmer represents the down and out in the tough town of Amistad, Connecticut. Bankruptcies, divorces, criminal defense, foreclosures…Nicole’s clients are the hardest-luck cases in a hard-luck rustbelt city.

Fighting the good fight, Nicole has to hustle just to make a living. And by night, unquiet spirits call to her on the dream plane, seeking revenge and healing…and demanding that she solve the coldest cases of all.

Powered by coffee and a sparkly pink cell phone with uncanny mojo, Nicole was made for trouble and badassery. But even she can’t go 24/7 without a break. Sooner or later, she knows she will crack.

Everything changes when Evangeline, the spirit of a murdered young woman, invades Nicole’s dreams. Her killer, a power-hungry and psychopathic warlock, wants to strike again.

Nicole commits to hunting Evangeline’s killer…and opening the Night Docket means all hell breaks loose in Amistad.

Attacked by enemies living and undead, Nicole must face her own past, call in all her favors, and find a way to achieve cosmic justice — without losing her own life and soul…

You will love Michele’s new contemporary urban fantasy series! Read it now, and instantly disappear into the otherworldly, dangerous landscape of Amistad and the Afterworld.

Netherwood
Netherwood - Michele Lang
So this sounded interesting. But, it was just weird, and not in a good way. In the future, it's all corp owned. There's the very popular "the Grid" (virtual reality) and the (boring) "Real" world. There's AI, different robotics, and "carbon-based" (that would be humanity). The rich don't need to die and can live forever by having their consciousness uploaded to the Grid.
This just didn't work for me. I wasn't invested in the story. I could have cared less about Talia and Kovner. Maybe I would have liked it a little more if there was less tech. (Or been less moody).

The Walled Garden - Michele Lang I loved this short story and only wished there was more of it. This fantasy romance centers on two Columbia students-a working class Puerto Rican woman and a man from a wealthy family. Mireya has struggled to put her life back together after a devastating attack, but then she meets Jonathan Mellon and their friendship brings all kinds of magic into her life. That's about all I can say without spoiling the story, but it's an entertaining read.

Lady Lazarus - Michele Lang I thought the premise of Lady Lazarus was interesting – an urban fantasy set in Europe during WWII. Magda Lazarus is the eldest daughter of an eldest daughter, in a line of witches. Her rebelliousness means she doesn’t know much about her lineage or her craft, which doesn’t help when she’s called upon to retrieve the Book of Raziel. Where does she start? How will she find it? And will she survive the attempt? She doesn’t have a choice though. It is 1939, and Hitler is gathering his forces. Werewolves, warlocks, and demons feature prominently in his camp. All Magda has is her wits, her sister Gisele, their friend Eva, and the angel Raziel (it is his book, after all).Lady Lazarus has some pretty neat characters, and you’ll enjoy Michele Lang’s populating history with paranormal creatures. The pace lagged in the middle of the story though, and I lost interest around the middle of the story – where she threw in romantic elements. This could’ve been a very gritty, tightly-paced nail-biter, and I’m disappointed that it isn’t.drey’s rating: Ok
