Freeing his Mate: A Howls Romance (Shifter World: Shifter Affairs #1) by Nancy Corrigan
Freeing his Mate - Nancy Corrigan
Freeing His Mate is the first book in the Shifter Affairs series, and it is set in the same world as the Royal Kagan series. That being said, this review is for this book alone. And what a book it is! You have an 'old' wolf, depressed and contemplating suicide. He meets a waitress who perks his interest, only to find out that she is bonded unwillingly to somebody else as his breeding partner. Throw in an old murder, drugs rampaging through a town, assassins, new partners, cute kids, and you have a book that will keep you engrossed from start to finish.

Whilst this is the first book in the new series, we do reunite with some old favourites of mine from the Royal Kagan series. These appearances enhance this story without taking it over, giving it a depth and a richness. There are new characters to grow fond of, and wait impatiently for their story. A perfect combination of new and old, guaranteed to satisfy.

This story was exceedingly well written, with no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading. The scenes flowed smoothly from one to the next, and the pacing was perfect. An absolute stunner of a first book, that will definitely leave you wanting more. Highly recommended by me.

Last Chance (Royal-Kagan Shifter World #7) by Nancy Corrigan
Last Chance - Nancy Corrigan
Last Chance is Gwen's story, with Xander and Vlad/Vader. We met her at the same time we met Molly, but then she disappeared. Xander left his pack in the care of Xane, his twin brother, and put all his time and energy into finding her. Vlad was also doing the same, with Shifter Affairs as his back up. Both of these males have a history with Gwen, but none that she is aware of. Their history comes from previous incarnations that Gwen can't yet remember, and they always have a sad ending. Because triads aren't common, neither Vlad nor Xander were aware of the implications in Gwen's past lives. However, with the triad that has now happened, the way is open for them to finally make their soul-bond... if Gwen can forgive them for their errors.

Yes, Gwen is a virgin and she's human, but she is NOT weak. She has weak moments, when events overwhelm her, but come on, be honest. If you had undergone all that she has, you'd feel overwhelmed at times too. And don't forget, once you've stopped fighting for your life, the adrenaline drops, and it is then that you feel overwhelmed. I loved Gwen, and her sassy, feisty attitude, that will not just accept what her mates are telling her. Xander and Vlad are both exceptional males, but that didn't stop me from wanting to whomp them upside the head when they started - either at each other, or their misguided attempts of 'protecting' Gwen. There is so much in this story, more than enough to get your teeth into. Molly, the Ulgran clan, Lena, past incarnations, current situations, prickly males and sassy females. Not only do you get Gwen's story, but you get an update on Lena and Molly, with it being an integral part to both this story and moving forwards.

With no editing or grammatical errors, the pacing was smooth, leading to a gripping story with natural peaks and troughs. It flowed smoothly, from one scene to the next, leading up to the ending. I was completely enthralled with this story, and it has definitely left me a) wanting to read them all again, and b) waiting oh so patiently for the next one!

Highly recommended by me.

REVIEW BY MERISSA - Cloaked in Mist: Children of Mist & Fire (Elemental Desire #2) by Nancy Corrigan
Cloaked in Mist: Children of Mist & Fire - Nancy Corrigan
Cloaked in Mist is the second book in the Elemental Desire series, and we have Lyal and Nikki as our main characters. Rune and Cat are mentioned, but they don't make an appearance in this book. Lyal has known for a while that Nikki is his, but once he finds out that Loki is the God housed within her, he is determined to "give" her to another one of the brethren. There's just one problem with that, and that is that Nikki has also claimed Lyal and wants nothing to do with any of the others. These two both argue, fight, and manipulate each other, as they try to figure out just what is going on between them. Of course, it doesn't help when Nikki's partner is taken, and Nikki is wanted in exchange! The tension between Lyal and Nikki is high, so when they get together, it is as hot as you would expect. And Dagur is still there, trying to control and create chaos, whilst the good Children of the Elements are fighting against him.

This book is excellently written, with plenty of action and tension. The pace is smooth, whilst building up the the climax. There were no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted the reading flow. The characters and situations are well rounded, with plenty of banter and character development. This is an excellent addition to the series that I loved, and I would have no hesitation in recommending this book/series.

Treasured Find (Royal Pride #1)
Treasured Find: A Multiple Shifter Paranormal Romance (Royal Pride Book 1) - Nancy Corrigan

This story is really neat. Shifter PNR can be really monotonous. You know the same repeating ideas and situations. It’s refreshing to come across an author who takes a different approach to the subjects he/she is writing about. In this case, the difference is the shifters and the creation of their race/races. I've often thought about having shifters that could shift in multiple forms and the authors delivers on this with enough history and back story that isn’t overwhelming.

Nancy Corrigan’s Treasured Find book one of the Royal Shifters series is a damn good introduction. Royal Shifter, Rafe Alexander is on the trail of kidnapped shifter children but while on his search he never expected to come across someone as enticing as Jasmine (Jazz to her friends). He’s lived a long time and he just can’t believe that his goddess may have blessed him with the biggest gift of all – his true mate. Jasmine just wants to stay unnoticed. She knows the danger that’s around her and she would rather for everyone to just stay the hell away. Even her college sweet heart Josh is kept at arm’s length. Unfortunately, what we want and wish for doesn't always come true and we just have to play the hand that fate deals us.

Like most shifter males in a lot of different stories Rafe is tall, well built and handsome. His character is over protective and a bit domineering but this works for a heroine who is better suited for the damsel in distress than Mrs. Kick-Ass. Like always the chemistry between the two main characters is off the charts but the author did well to introduction some friction in the form of ex-lovers for bother characters. I really wanted to know more about the villain Jon because I think that his character needed a little more exploration. His character was off his rocker and would have loved more time with him. Besides the main characters, the kids were another highlight. Especially, the little girl. You’re left wondering how her character is going to impact the storyline in future installments of the series.

Hunter Sacrificed (Wild Hunt 0.5) by Nancy Corrigan
Hunter Sacrificed (Wild Hunt) - Nancy Corrigan

Nancy Corrigan’s prequel to the Wild Hunt Series, Hunter Sacrificed, is an astounding foundation to the series.  Arawn, Lord of the Underworld, makes the ultimate sacrifice in order to help preserve the human race, risking the love of his mate, Minerva.  His detriment does not go as planned, so he takes vengeance for those he wronged with the help of the Wild Hunt. This paranormal fantasy is suitable for adult audiences.

Nancy Corrigan does a considerable job developing a new story based on mythology.  This action-packed story was entertaining and a great foundation for the series.  The story was well written with multiple twists.  At 52-pages, this story is a quick read but with a lot of content.  I look forward to reading additional books in this series.
