The month of March was way better than February as far as my readings are concerned (in terms of quantity).

I've completed 8 novels (6 in English and 2 in French) and 1 graphic novel:

- Antéchrista by A. Nothomb (review)

- Nana by Emile Zola (review)

- Germination by Jamie Thornton (review)

- Alice in wonderland by Lewis Carol

- The girl with all the gifts by M. R. Carey (review)

- The Whisper of Stars by Nick Jones (review)

- Divergent by Veronica Roth

- Insurgent by Veronica Roth

- Saga (# 2) by Bryan K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples

I am currently reading Paper Town by John Green. I really love John Green's writing style and the story seems interesting. I do not really have an April TBR, my Easter break begins on Saturday and lasts for two weeks, but I am going to a festival and then I will have to study a lot and go to work. Still, I will have more time to read than during school, so that's good news.

What have you read in the month of March? What was your favourite book?

The Whisper of Stars - Nick Jones

I received this book in a Booklikes giveaway (and it is a signed copy!)

Synopsis:

The year is 2091. With accelerated warming and global population out of control, the survival of humanity hangs in the balance. On the brink of extinction, science delivers one last hope. Human hibernation.

It took me a while to read this book, but it's because I read other books in between. It is not the kind of book I'm used to reading, but I liked this one. This book is really well written, it is captivating. As far as I'm concerned, I would have liked a little bit more world building, because it took me a few chapters to understand what was happening. But it may be because I usually read YA and I'm not used to more "complex" books.

I really like Jen,  she discovers that the government she is fighting for has some dark secrets and she is ready to fight against it and change everything she has always believed in.

I loved the concept of hibernation, I found this really interesting. I am curious to know what's going to happen in the next book.

I gave this book 3/5, only because it is not the kind of story I really like. But this book was really well written. If you love Sci-Fi and thriller, you should definitely give it a try.

I don't usually do Episode stories, until all the episodes have been released

but I made an exception for this one because, you know, it's Time Travel.  And now I'm kicking myself because I have to wait.  I don't know the release schedule, or how many episodes there are, so who knows how long I'll be twisting in the wind?

anyway, this one follows Joseph, who had a traumatic event in his childhood which left him with a great weight of guilt, a dysfunctional family and an inability to cope with adulthood.  He is close to going broke and being homeless when the only friend he has left finally convinces him to see a therapist.

that is "when" things start to get complicated.

Fifty pages in and I can't wait for the complete release.

Three and a half stars.

There is no heroism in what I do. There is only... rage.
Helheim Volume 1: The Witch War - Cullen Bunn,Joëlle Jones,Nick Filardi

What do you get when you mix the living dead, Norse mythology/vikings, and witches?   Well, Helheim.   So long as you add stylistic art that complements the story perfectly and an ending that I just didn't see coming, and that also had me wondering how it could just end there.   The ending is perfect, partly because it left me wanting so much more because it was so unexpected.

Groa and Bera are two witches who are feuding, to the point that they're killing the world around them.   Not only the humans, but at some point, the fish goes bad and the blame is laid at the feet of these two women.   To be fair, one has a demonic army and one has an army of the dead and they really are killing off, well, everyone.

Rikard is the pride of his village, a fierce fighter and is blinded by a woman named Bera - a women whom he doesn't realize is part of the cause for his people's misery.   When he dies, she brings him back to life - she controls the dead, obviously and Groa controls the demons.   The plan is for him to protect her from her enemy, and the army coming to kill her.

Instead, Rikard, honorable, proud, and yes, fierce, somehow remains within the body Bera has constructed.  His anger knows no bounds, and is aimed equally at Bera and Groa, as he believes them to be equally responsible for what he has become.

It's a child, a child who has lost her people, her family, her entire village who ends up giving him the encouragement he needs, whom he takes under his wing, and who ends up helping him as he gets ready to take a war to the witches instead of waiting for them to come to his village.   Or what was once his village.

I was absolutely enthralled by the art, by the pace, by the connections between the characters and how this story unfurled.

Reading progress update: I've read 101 out of 164 pages.
Helheim Volume 1: The Witch War - Cullen Bunn,Joëlle Jones,Nick Filardi

Rikard: "For if one bitch is my mother... then the other bitch is surely my father."

The funniest thing to me?   This actually makes sense in context of the general story line.
