Rise of a Merchant Prince: Book Two of the Serpentwar Saga - Raymond E. Feist

The second part of a series called the Serpentwar, this novel is all about a fierce campaign between the human race and the Saaur, a race of serpent/lizard creatures hell-bent on conquest. This volume concentrates on Roo Avery, ambitious to become a wealthy man in Krondor and delves into his successes and failures. Meanwhile Erik and company continue to fight the Saaur and their allies.

Magic and fantasy creatures feature more in this book than in the previous one and it's engaging enough to want to know where this is going.

Not a bad read - and I'll plough through the rest of the series at some point. Enjoyed it more than the first volume although some of it was predictable.

Kissed by a Dark Prince By Felicity Heaton Free!
Kissed by a Dark Prince (Eternal Mates #1) - Felicity E. Heaton

Step into a passionate, lush, and powerful paranormal romance series packed with dark elves, vampires, demons, fae, shifters and angels from New York Times and USA Today Best-Selling Paranormal Romance Author Felicity Heaton.

Kissed by a Dark Prince (Eternal Mates Paranormal Romance Series Book 1)
Olivia thinks it’s her lucky night when a dangerously handsome unconscious fae ends up on her inspection table. He’s her chance to redeem herself with her employer, the demon-hunting organisation, Archangel. But when the tall, dark and deadly immortal warrior awakes, she gets much more than she bargained for…

Attacked by his enemy in the elf kingdom, the last thing Prince Loren expects when he comes around is a beautiful angel watching over him and medical technology of the mortal realm. Hazy from his injuries, all he can focus on is the pulse ticking in her throat and the sweet allure of her blood.

One single bite reveals she is his eternal mate, triggering a bond between them that will leave him weakened until it is completed… or broken, and pulling Olivia into the crossfire of his ancient feud.

To protect his people and his mate from the machinations of a madman, Loren must risk everything by working with Olivia at Archangel to find a way to break the bond blossoming between them.

But will Loren be strong enough to place duty before desire and give up the one thing he has waited millennia for and craves above all others—his eternal mate? And will Olivia be able to resist the incredible heat that burns between them and the temptation of her dark prince’s kiss?

Ongoing story, enjoying each couple
Scandalized by My Prince (Linked Across Time) (Volume 8) - Dawn Brower

I have read several in this series and enjoyed this book. This was Aubriella and Killian's story. Without warning, Aubriella sets off to help Killian. The back and forth between them is fun. Meeting up with others from the series is always enjoyable as well, especially in this case because a healing of sorts takes place. This also leads to another story. I look forward to the journey to the end.

I received a copy of this as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.

The Soldati Prince (Soldati Hearts #1) by Charlie Cochet
The Soldati Prince - Charlie Cochet

First of all, thank you, Manouchka, for lending me this book. It was perfect for my challenge. I really appreciate it, but I am afraid I am going to disappoint you with my review. Sorry about that :/

For some reason, I had high hopes for this book, even after reading Hell & High Water. Not sure what it was - the cover? - the blurb? - that made me curious about it.

Even after I started reading and then double and triple checked my shelves to make sure I've never read this story before (because it felt like I did), I was still sold on it. I am a sucker for unsuspecting humans being dragged into the world of magic. Big cold alphas and puny little (yet snarky, very snarky, and funny, too) humans is also my thing. So I gave this book a chance.

But around 40% in it all fell apart. It turned too sweet and too sugary and there were too many children wrapping everyone in sight around their little foxling's paws (cute, but that's not what the blurb promised!) And it was just downhill from there :( Rainbows, unicorns and lollipops :(

1 star.

PS ...and pink glitter unicorn cupcakes.

Into the Fire
Into the Fire: A Night Prince Novel (Night Prince series, Book 4) - Jeaniene Frost

 Night Prince, Book 4

I Picked Up This Book Because: Finale to a series I love.

The Characters:

Vlad Tepesh:
Leila:

The Story:

I think I did too much too fast. By the end I was burnt out, no pun intended, on the action. Battle after battle after struggle after battle. I feel like Vlad and Leila rarely got to be themselves, just be a loving couple.

I was left with the impression that we could have a spinoff starring Gretchen but it’s just an inkling.

Overall the book was good. I was fully committed to listening as usual with Ms Frost behind the keyboard and Ms Gilbert behind the microphone.

The Random Thoughts:
