Smelly Socks
Smelly Socks - Robert Munsch,Michael Martchenko

Reading level and Leveling System:

Guided Reading: O

Lexile Measure: 450L

Tina loves her brand-new socks so much that she's never, ever going to take them off. But when her wonderful socks start to get smelly, her classmates must take action. For students to show comprehension of the story they can complete a true/false activity. The students will read the statements and decide if they are true or false based on the story. A fun science activity would be for students to sort items into a good or bad column based on the items smell/order.

The most intelligent princess of them all!
The Paper Bag Princess - Robert Munsch,Michael Martchenko

A funny book with a princess and a lesson that the boys and the girls in your classroom will love! What begins with what seems to be a very snobby princess ends with a lesson on self esteem and knowing your worth. Also, this princess refuses to give up and instead chooses to use her brain to outsmart the dragon in a great cat and mouse style game. What a great book to remind your students how big and mighty their brains are and how you don’t have to be the biggest one in the room or have the most stuff, but if you have knowledge, it’s powerful. I’d love to use this in my classroom one day as a lesson to teach retelling a story on storyboards. Having the class split up into groups to decorate a poster board with a different part of the story and have them lined up at the end to retell the story in their own words.

Smelly Socks
Smelly Socks - Robert Munsch,Michael Martchenko

Tina loves her new socks so much that she never wants to take them off! But, when her new socks get smelly, her friends must do something about it! This book is great for Kindergarten-2nd grade! Students could have an activity on problem and solution, characters, and setting. After, they could create their own new, smelly socks!

MMM, Cookies!
Mmmm, Cookies - Robert Munsch,Michael Martchenko

Mmm, Cookies! is a fun book to read in Kindergarten-2nd grade. Christopher plays a trick on his parents and gives them fake cookies, but he eventually gets a taste of his own medicine..his teacher plays a trick on him!! Students would love to decorate their own cookies and they could incorporate writing by giving step by step directions about how they made their cookies. Fun & yummy activity!

We Share EVERYTHING!
We Share Everything! - Robert Munsch,Michael Martchenko

We Share EVERYTHING! is the perfect book to use during the first week of Kindergarten. Amanda and Jeremiah are two students in kindergarten who get in trouble for not sharing. Soon they both learn how to share and after this, they take the whole class by surprise and learn how to share everything! A great idea for kindergarten is for them to help the teacher come up with class rules. They could also write about a time when they had to share with someone.
