SLEEP!!
The Napping House - Audrey Wood,Don Wood

This is a great picture book with lots of repetition. Students can help predict what will happen next in the story. For instance usually after a dog comes a cat and after a cat comes a mouse. You can also have the students predict will the bed ever break. This story is perfect for small group reading or whole class reading with lots of pictures and illustrations.

The Napping House
The Napping House - Audrey Wood,Don Wood

The Napping House is a story about a cozy bed, a snoring granny, a dreaming child, a dozing dog, and a snoozing cat. One by one, the characters snuggle on the cozy bed until an unwanted guest arrives.

This is the book that I can recite in my sleep. I have read this book hundreds of times to the three and four year olds in my Sunday School class. This book is used for early childhood to kindergarten. The book can be read when students are settling down for rest time in the lower grades. An after activity I would do with the students after reading the book is to have the students draw about what they think the characters are dreaming about in the napping house.

The Napping House is a silly book about multiple characters trying to sleep. The illustrations are so vivid and perfectly designed.

I would use this book for sequencing, a bedtime/naptime story, or a story time story with puppets.

Cat Nap.
The Napping House - Audrey Wood,Don Wood

This is a fun book to read aloud for children. The illustrations are wonderfully large and bold. Aside from using this book in a ELA class, it could be used in a math class for counting. I love that it includes songs to go along with it. It would be fun to have students cut out each character in the book and stack them accordingly to the book.  An example of this activity can be found with the following link. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/287597126176697047/

The Napping House

The Napping House is one of my favorite stories! I love how the action in this story grows and grows. When reading this story with little people, I love to discuss how the perspective of the pictures changes as the story progresses. I think it would be especially fun to allow this book to accompany a pajama day. I would allow the students to retell the story and sequence the events using pre-made character cutouts.
