Top 5 Series I Want To Start In 2016

So, here is the second part of my "Most Anticipated..." list, even though it is more of a reading list. I added the three book series from last year that I wanted to start. I still want to read them so I could only choose 2 new series.

5. "The Darkest Minds" by Alexandra Bracken

This is still on my reading list though I have lost a little interest. I heard very mixed reviews. Some love it, some hate it. But many say that it could have been better. We will see...

4. "The False Prince" by Jennifer A. Nielson

I heard nothing but great things about this series so I really want so see what the fuss is about.

3. "Blood of Eden" by Julie Kagawa

Still want to read it. I think, if I don't start this soon I might be getting to old for enjoying it as much as I could.

2. "Written in Red" by Anne Bishop

This has been on my reading list a long time. It's time I finally started it.

1. "Red Rising" by Pierce Brown

This moved WAY up on my priority list. I decided to read it in German because all three paperbacks will be out in the next few month while it will be another year until the English paperback comes out.

Top 5 Most Anticipated Books of 2016

At the end of 2015, I really liked how I could look back at my “Most Anticipated…” list and see which books I actually read. So I decided to create another Top 5 for 2016. Let’s start with the “Most Anticipated Books of 2016”.

5. "Strange The Dreamer" by Laini Taylor

Release date: September 27th 2016

I loved Laini Taylor's "Daughter of Smoke and Bone" series, so I am really looking forward to her new series.

4. "Heartless" by Marissa Meyer

Release date: November 8th 2016

I'm actually not a big fan of fairytale retellings but I love Marissa Meyer's writing style. And if "Heartless" is anything like "The Lunar Chronicles" it will be amazing.

3. "A Torch Against The Night" by Sabaa Tahir

Release date: August 30th 2016

"An Ember in the Ashes" was one of my favorite books of 2015, so of course I can't wait for the sequel.

2. "The Winners Kiss" by Marie Rutkoski

Release date: March 29th 2016

What can I say? This series is amazing and I am so excited for the last book. (And I am so glad publishers listened to the fans for once and undid the cover change!)

1. “The Doors of Stone” by Patrick Rothfuss

This is still on my list. Do I know if it will come out in 2016? No. But one can hope...

Honorable mention: "Kings Rising" by C. S. Pascat  - This book comes out February 2nd so it's almost like I already have it in my hands. I will read it the second it comes out.

What are your most anticipated books?

Top 5 Book Series You Wish Had More Books - Top 5 Wednesday

Top 5 Wednesday was created by gingerreadslainey. Check out her youtube channel! Basically, every Wednesday there is a chosen topic to which you list your top 5. If you want to join, have a look at the goodreads page!

This is actually not this week’s topic. It’s last week’s but I really wanted to do it. So here we go:

5. Fear Street by R.L.Stine

I admit, I read every single book of the Fear Street series when it came out in my teenager years. I was so sad when they stopped publishing new books. I know they started up again recently but now my interest is gone.

4. Dark Magician Trilogy/The Traitor Spy Trilogy by Trudi Canavan

One would think six books are enough but to be honest I wanted more. I would love another trilogy maybe with a focus on Dannyl (and Loki) because he was one of the most interesting characters.

3. Dark Canopy series by Jennifer Benkau

I liked this dualogy but it felt as it should have been a trilogy. The last chapters of the second book held so much potential for more and it felt like there meant to be another book. The story suddenly stopped even though there were still so many unsolved problems.

2. Chicago Stars series/ Wynette, Texas series by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

Phillips is my favorite romance author and I love almost all of her books from these two series. Unfortunately, lately she has been written books that don’t belong to either one and I just don’t enjoy them as much. So I wish there would be more books of either one.

1. Harry Potter series by Joanne K. Rowling

This is an obvious one. I love the world of Harry Potter. I can’t even say if I want to read about Harry’s children at Hogwarts or rather about Harry as an adult. I just want more books in the Harry Potter universe.

Which book series do you wish to have more books?

Top 5 Characters I Wish I Could Drown - Top 5 Wednesday

So, it’s been awhile (April 8th to be exact) since I did my last Top 5 Wednesday.

Top 5 Wednesday was created by gingerreadslainey. Check out her youtube channel! Basically, every Wednesday there is a chosen topic to which you list your top 5. If you want to join, have a look at the goodreads page!

This week’s topic focuses on characters we cannot stand. I must admit, usually characters like that only annoy me while I’m reading but as soon as I have finished a book, I forget about them. So this is kind of difficult for me and I hope I don’t forget someone very annoying.

5. Gale Hawthorne

Yes, I was not a fan of Gale while I was reading the Hunger Games. I can’t exactly pinpoint why that is. He just rubbed me the wrong way. And I was so gleeful every time Peeta kissed Katniss in the movie and Gale looked so hurt. After the books it was like a dream come true.

4. Linh Adri

Cinder’s stepmother is this kind of person I cannot stand. How can a person be so spiteful and hateful? She raised Cinder and still had no warm feelings for her whatsoever. Definitively someone I would want to drown (and maybe do even worse things to her…).

3. Prof. Dr. Dr. Ann Matthews

This woman drove me nuts. When I listened to the audiobook of Dream a little Dream I wanted to smack her so many times. Seriously, if she were my mother, I would have drowned her many times already. The way she just decided things and completely ignored her daughters’ feelings was driving me insane.

2. Jace Herondale

I can’t even tell you how much I dislike Jace from The Mortal Instrument series. It all started so harmless. I did not mind him in the first book but as series progressed I started to dislike him very much. It’s his whole demeanor that I cannot stand. The way he acted and reacted, the decisions he made – it all formed this character that annoyed me so much that I started skipping his scenes (and him being a main character that meant many pages).

1. Dolores Umbridge

I think, Umbridge from the Harry Potter series might be on many Top 5 Wednesday lists this week. She was the epitome of frustration and hate. She was not just evil, she was cruel behind a façade of pink. She acted oh so correct but was just a horrible person. She is definitively my number 1 pick of characters that I wish I could drown.
