The Graveyard Book Vol 2 - A wonderful conclusion and a must read if you liked the novel

Wow. I didn't think this could best the first volume...but I was wrong. This volumes contains only three chapters but they pack a punch. We see Nobody attempts at school outside the the graveyard where he learns a greatdeal but calls far too much attention to himself. Then comes the great extravaganza of a chapter; over half of the book focuses on finally meeting Jack and seeing what Silas, Miss Lupescu, and others have been up to.

The Graveyard Book Vol 1 - More of this, please!

This blew me away from start to finish. I didn't even know my library had this book, so when I saw it on the shelf, I didn't even stop to think. But I had other books due the week before, so it sat there staring at me and tempting me.

 

Today, I finally got the chance to stick my toe in. However, I ended up binging on it; I couldn't put it down. Having already read the original book, I knew basically what was coming but it had been long enough for details to fade. They came flooding back and my remembered personal/mental illustrations melded perfectly with the illustrations these exceptional artists contributed.

This is on of those books I passed a dozen times on the shelf and said, 'nah, it will never be as good as it looks to be' and left, not wanting to be disappointed. This is also the book that has me once again trying those long shot books, because it restored my faith in them.


This is another urban fantasy vampire series, where vampires are a part of 'our' average world. The author fits the Other into the story well, partially because even the main character is not your run of the mill person.
