The Hunter's Moon (The Secret Warrior #1) by Beth Trissel
The Hunter's Moon (The Secret Warrior Series) - Beth Trissel

Beth Trissel’s The Hunter's Moon has an interesting combination of history, fantasy, and paranormal.  Seventeen-year-old Morgan Daniel and her ten-year-old brother Jimmy have been in witness protection after observing a murder by the head of the Panteras.  The gang chases them through the Shenandoah Mountain in Virginia where they are rescued by wolves from the Wapicoli, discovering a world they did not know existed.

The way Jackson and Morgan spoke, threw me for a loop a few times.  Sometimes they would talk really formal and almost old, then they would say something like “freaking awesome” that made them seem more the seventeen-year-olds they are.  It didn’t seem consistent to me.

I like Jimmy.  He was very wise for a ten-year-old.  He was always good for some fascinating information.

I enjoyed the historical aspect of the story dating back to the American Revolution, and Daniel Morgan.  I thought the background of the Morcants and Wapicoli was a good concept..  The Panteras are noteworthy enemies.  Mateo was a lethal adversary.

I liked the setting; it made the plot seem convincing.  At 133 pages, the story was a quick read.  This story is appropriate for young adults.

Review: Warrior's Moon by Jaclyn M. Hawkes
Warrior's Moon - Jaclyn M. Hawkes
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review

Warrior's Moon is a perfect example of a great cover sparking my interest. After seeing this beautiful cover and reading the blurb, I was hooked. As I started reading, I realized that this novel reads quite a bit like high fantasy. It starts out when main character Chantaya is three, and follows her as she grows into a young woman.

I loved Chantaya's character. She is so refreshing, free-spirited in a time that frowned upon such things. Perhaps she's like this because her mother is such a good person, or maybe because her best friends, Peyton and Tristan accept her for who she is. Whatever the reason, she is beautiful inside and out. Chani is a source of never-ending grief for poor Peyton who worries more and more as she reaches adulthood.

Peyton is an amazing male lead. At times he was just too good to be true, Loyal, handsome, brave, generous—these are just some of his traits. Peyton and Chani make a great couple. It's impossible to not root for them to find happiness in their lives. I almost cried when Peyton left the small village to become a knight. But some things are just meant to be, and Peyton was destined to be a knight.

This is not my normal read, yet I still enjoyed it quite a bit. The story is as old as time, but the characters really make this novel different. Warrior's Moon is a clean read, though some of the subject matter is more suitable for an older audience. My recommendation is high school and up. If you enjoy a sweeping fantasy romance set during Medieval times, add this to your TBR list.

Warrior's Moon
Warrior's Moon - Lucy Monroe I always love to go back and visit old friends. Lucy Monroe did that while giving us a whole new story to add to an already great series. When they were young Shona and Caelis were in love and believed they were sacred mates. The Chrechte, could not produce offspring unless they found the one. Shona gave herself to Caelis. They belonged to the clan Macleod. The clan leader would not approve their mating and told Caelis she was not his mate so he abandoned Shona. She left the town with her parents only to come back years later with his son. Shona life has been hard and she is running for her life and that of her childrens. She has no trust for the deceiver who left her pregnant and alone. She just wants to find family now she is a widow to settle and live in peace with some protection. During her journey she has to deal with Caelis again. Her first stop is the Sinclair's. I have to tell you from my favorite book of the series we get to see Talroc and Abigail and their sons,Lord Sinclairs second Nail his mate Guaire. Lord Lacland and Lady Emma of Balmoral. Lots of new characters. Marjory and Eadan, Shona's adorable children. Thomas and Audrey her companions and helpers. Caelis is on a mission to clear up the past and he wants to take Shona with him. Its a great story. I'm always delighted with this series. :)

Review of "Warrior Moon" by Marilyn Jordan
Warrior Moon - Marilyn Jordan

Moving review from amazon now that my kindle account is banned from posting after commenting on author review circles.

Review Text:

With the male vs. female blurb on back of book, I was hesitant to read this book in case it was all macho-man and too-stupid-wimpy-female style.

Surprise! A great read with real 3-dimensional characters, a plot that holds together as romance and as science fiction (i.e., believable once the rules of the society/world are set up), believable villains and never dragged in any section.
