Riuscirà a fare tutto senza farsi distrarre da Fenris? È un lupo mannaro il cui leggendario cuore di pietra sembra sciogliersi quando si trova vicino a lei. Gli intrighi, gli amori e le imprese che hanno avuto inizio in "Wondrous Strange" e sono proseguiti in "Darklight" si concludono qui, in "Tempestuous".

 

Eccoci arrivati all'ultimo capitolo di questa saga.

Malgrado negli ultimi periodi mi sia un po' stufata degli Urban Fantasy, poiché è sempre la solita solfa, ho trovato interessante questa serie. Fatati che recitano a teatro, cavalli nelle vasche da bagno, leprecaun vestiti in pelle e compagne di stanza millenarie, decisamente un casting molto variegato.

L'unica pecca è proprio la nostra principessina che come ogni teenager si fa paturnie mentali invece di dire subito chiaro e tondo quali sono i suoi timori.

Citando Jessica Rabbit : non siamo cattive... è che ci disegnano così. Nel nostro caso...è stata scritta così.

If you read the foreword and introduction about the artists and their connections and the time periods represented here, that's one thing, even the thought of conveying emotion rather than drawing from still life was inspirational.  Swedenborgianism again, this mysterious religion that seems to pop up every now and then in books I read.  Everything about this book sparks new ideas.

 

Painting/illustration and literature are linked very clearly in this book, as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, but what they really should say is, great illustrations tell stories.

 

 

What struck me most was that most of these images, while beautiful, were most often hauntingly so.  There were many here that sent a little shiver down my spine and others that I wouldn't want to study too closely before bed!

 

In this art book one could make up a thousand stories for each page and still not have reached the limit. 

Ho comprato questo libro parecchi mesi fa, ma ogni volta che facevo per iniziarlo qualcosa mi faceva perdere la voglia di leggerlo.. poi mi sono finalmente decisa a iniziarlo per bene e l'ho finito in due giorni. Mi ha ricordato un po' "La fata delle tenebre", di Holly Black.. nonostante tutto il tempo che mi ci è voluto per iniziarlo mi sono dovuta ricredere, è molto carino.

Unreadably bad.If I found a fairy horse in my bathtub, I'd call animal control. Come on, you're mature enough to move to NYC on your own and make a living as an actress but you don't know how to call the police?It probably didn't help the book that the main love interest's name is Sonny, and when I think of Sonny, I think of an annoying, chubby little boy in 4th grade who annoyed the f*** out of me.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this series as I'd never read any others before featuring faeries. However it intrigued me by including aspects on Shakespeare's plays into the characters' reality. Although I haven't read all the plays mentioned throughout this series (Midsummer Nights' Dream, Romeo and Juliet, and The Tempest, mainly) I enjoyed how it was weaved into the storyline.Tempestuous is the last in the series though it didn't end as I had expected and though I don't know of the series continuing I can imagine it continuing to where I hoped it would have ended here. (Vague I know lol)I also fell in love with many of the minor characters including "Bug", Lucky, Tyff, Alec, Mabh, etc.
